Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great item I bought this compressor today, so I could polish out a motorcycle wheel. Got it home filled with oil and let run with valve on bottom of tank open 20-25 mins to do the break in. Drained oil and did refill good to go! Turned on and let tank fill, plugged in my 90 degree die grinder from harbor freight 3cfm consumption and it worked great! Nice compressor for the buck!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Same Oil Leak Problem I picked mine up at Tractor Supply this morning April 14th. The store had already installed the air filter element, and the oil filler breather cap, so all that was left in the attached bag was the compressor oil bottle and users manual. I filled the oil reservoir with the provided oil. (oil in the bottle is the exact amount for 1 fill). I started it up and within 3 minutes it, as others I have read about here, began leaking oil around the bottom of the pump cylinder. I figured I could waste another hour taking it back and trying my luck on another unit, or take 10 minutes and fix it myself. Took the plastic cowling off, it is 4 small bolts. Then checked the torque on the head bolts. I could easily turn the 4 head bolts down with a screwdriver style hex head bit. That should not be the case. I tightened the head bolts evenly in a cross pattern. a little at a time on each bolt. No more leak, and the unit works perfect! Saved a trip back to the store. Posted this to maybe help others with the same problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT, BUT READ BEFORE USE I bought this unit and put the oil in as stated, put the breather filter on. I didn't realize it was missing the oil breather cap. so needless to say 5 mins after running oil was every where and I had a busted seal. Manager swapped my unit out and made sure it had all parts this time. So to avoid the oil issue make sure you use the right oil cap. Other than this great product great service from bot TSC and Porter cable

What is approximate amp draw at cut-off?  Or does this require more than 15 amps.  Sizing off-grid power for this.  Its what TSC customers do, right?

Can you install another muffler on it to make it quieter? If so, any recommendations?

Asked by: UkeDog
We do not recommend altering the Porter-Cable 24-Gallon Portable Air Compressor in any way. This could void the warranty or damage the tool.

I just bought PXCML224VW on 24 May 2018. I am trying to register my product on the Porter Cable website and it does not pull up the product. I am not sure I received all the appropriate literature with my product. What do I do?

the oil that came with the compressor was semi synthetic and not quite enough to get it half way between the red dot on the oil sight gauge, can I use a synthetic compressor oil to top it off ? It's a model number pxcml224vw

Asked by: matt24
Halfway up on the red dot is considered full with oil. However, if you need a little more oil in the unit, you can use synthetic oil.

Motor runs but will not pump up pressure

Asked by: Rod man63
Please make sure the drain valve on the bottom of the tank is fully closed. If the drain valve is closed and the issue continues, please contact PORTER-CABLE at 1-888-848-5175 so we may better assist you with troubleshooting this issue.
