Q: I am filling the tank and replacing the top but the water doesn't flow once the trough is empty. Why is this?
6 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. The waterer uses a vacuum system. Water stops flowing if air can’t enter the reservoir. Make sure the reservoir is seated correctly, allow air bubbles, and keep the unit level. For further troubleshooting assistance, please reach out to Harris Farms directly. https://mannapro.com/pages/contact-us6 months agoHelpful?
Q: Is this product frost free or freeze proof
8 months ago1 Answer
- A: No, the Harris Farms Poultry Drinker is not freeze-proof or frost-free on its own. Its heavy-duty, double-wall galvanized steel construction is designed to keep water cool in warm weather, but it does not prevent freezing in cold temperatures. To make it functional in freezing conditions, you must use a compatible heating base.8 months agoHelpful?

Q: This always leaks the water out! What am I doing wrong?? I cant count on them have water for more than BBC a couple hrs.
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: Hi! Per the vendor: The Harris Farms 2 Gallon Double Wall Drinker works on a vacuum seal principle when the base is full, and the lid is properly attached. When filling the fount there may be some water seepage around the valve and base of the pan; this is normal and will be stopped when the outer jacket is replaced. To remove the lid while water is in the unit: Tilt the fount to a 45-degree angle. This will break the air lock. Twist the lid to the left. Slowly lift the lid from the base. Works Great!!! Once you figure it out!!!
Make sure that the base is level - I used a 10 in by 10 inch wood log - (use a small level to make sure it is level) Place the Metal Drinker on the "level log or whatever" and remove the outer metal sleeve.. then fill the tank up with water. Now, the most important part that took me forever to figure out...Re-Install the metal outer sleeve and push it down until it stops/rests on the locking pin (do use the "locking slot") just let any part of the outer sleeve rim rest on the locking pin). When the tank is empty and ready to be refilled you can now use the locking slot to lock the outer sleeve so you can carry the entire empty Drinker to your faucet to be washed and re-filled....hope that helps....Charles

Rust forms quickly, waterer doesn't last
Very frustrated to see that this waterer is being described by the seller as "long lasting" and "durable," when after only a year or so, mine is all rusted. I've never added anything to my water like acv or anything. I thought mine was a fluke, but the reviews on this site confirm that this is a huge problem. Tractor Supply needs to stop offering this product or the manufacturer needs to make this right.
My heating base is metal and states that it requires a metal waterer, so now I either have to replace everything or get another metal one and wait for it to rust in a year. Very frustrated.

Poor coating
I have purchased about a dozen of these. Never again. They rust rather quickly. Start leaking. Before they leak the rust colors the water brown. All the chickens will drink from a plastic washer and only go to the rusty galvanized one in emergency when that is all the drinking water that they have.
No, I do not recommend this product.
