The hopper can hold up to 50 lb. of material at once to reduce the amount of refills needed. Barely lasted a season. It will not hold up to the capacity rating it claims to have. Mine just grinds now the spinner plate won’t spin. It might hold up longer if you load it very light, but why buy a big spreader if it won’t hold a large amount. Also, it seems like the rate adjustment is a little wonky.

I purchased this unit because I was tired of replacing the all plastic spreaders from the diy stores. I figured pneumatic tires would make the difference. I was disappointed in the design of this spreader when I loaded 40# of fertilizer, the force on the handle is too high for the center of gravity of the spreader causing the unit to roll forward and collapsing under its own weight. First use and it's going in the garbage!!
