Q: Installed this pump a week ago in gasoline tank. Works fine with the straight nozzle it came with, but won’t pump with the automatic shutoff nozzle I used with previous pump. Will this work with an automatic shutoff type nozzle?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, Thanks for your question. Here is the information we received back from the vendor- "“The RP-10 is a manual rotary pump, meaning it has no motor to create the back pressure needed for an automatic nozzle. Our automatic nozzles should only be used with pumps 15GPM and greater otherwise they will fail.”

Q: Can this be attached to a well water line in my cellar to draw water up if no electricity?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Izzabelle, Because the GPI RP-10-UL rotary hand pump is designed for direct mounting on portable tanks, drums or barrels for the transfer of gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, oil (up to 30W) and hydraulic fluid, I cant make the claim that it would work in your cellar. However, keep in mind you always have the TSC 30 return/exchange policy.

Q: What type of vent is required when using a 55 gal drum set up

1 Answer
  • GPI Distribution Support
A: A 55 gallon drum typically has two openings with one 2” NPT and one ¾” NPT. Assuming you are using one of our pumps on the 2” bung, this leaves the ¾”. Most users provide venting by removing the ¾” cap while operating the pump and then reinstalling it afterwards.

A: No, the RP-10 cannot be used for water. We have only one pump for water and that is the LP-50. If you have additional questions on that pump don't hesitate to give us a call at 316-686-7361. Thank you, GPI sales team.

Q: Will this pump methanol?

1 Answer
  • GPI Inside Sales
A: Sorry the RP-10 will not pump methanol and we do not have a hand pump for methanol, but we do have an electric pump if that will suffice? Check out the EZ-8 methanol or M-150 methanol pumps in 12V if interested or contact us for more detail 316-686-7361. Thank you, GPI sales team.

Q: Can you add an in line gauge to see how many gallons you pump per use?

1 Answer
  • GPI Inside Sales
A: Hello, yes you can add an inline flow meter, you just need to make sure on a hand pump you keep the flow over 3 gallons per min to keep the meter as accurate as possible. Thanks, GPI Sales Team.

Not for water!!!

I picked this pump up at TSC around 6 weeks ago. Like most people, I didn't read the specs before buying. Picked the most expensive one there, wanting a good one. Assembled it no problem. Shoved it in a barrel and pumped, no problem. About 6 weeks later, went to pump with it, and it was seized tight. Problem. Took it apart and saw a cast iron drum with some type of high carbon impellers. Guess what I had been pumping.....water! Sucker was rusted tight! A little wire brushing and some WD-40 got it good as new. Great pump.....just not for water! Maybe I should take my glasses in the store next time so I can read the fine print! Now to go buy another pump. I have a great one, just no use for one that can't pump water.

Doesn't work with a filter installed

This pump flat out sucks if you install a filter kit. It won't even put out a gallon of diesel per 100 revolutions.

Great pump at a reasonable price!

Hooked right up to my old fuel tank! Pumps good volume with very little effort! I had to purchase and additional 20” of pipe due to it not being able to reach the bottom of the tank. Which wasn’t a big deal.
