GPI RP-10-UL Hand Pump is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for water!!! I picked this pump up at TSC around 6 weeks ago. Like most people, I didn't read the specs before buying. Picked the most expensive one there, wanting a good one. Assembled it no problem. Shoved it in a barrel and pumped, no problem. About 6 weeks later, went to pump with it, and it was seized tight. Problem. Took it apart and saw a cast iron drum with some type of high carbon impellers. Guess what I had been pumping.....water! Sucker was rusted tight! A little wire brushing and some WD-40 got it good as new. Great pump.....just not for water! Maybe I should take my glasses in the store next time so I can read the fine print! Now to go buy another pump. I have a great one, just no use for one that can't pump water.

Does this pump work in both directions? As in, can I suck gas out of 5 gal. cans to fill up a 55gal drum, and then turn the crank in the opposite direction to suck the fuel out of the 55gal drum?

Asked by: C Wyckoff
All of our pumps are designed to pull a suction only. if you run these in reverse you could wear out the vanes quickly, and you won't have an filtration to protect the pump. what will happen is you will blow air down the through the pump and into the fuel verses pulling a vacuum to bring the fuel up. if you have any other question feel free to give us a call. 1-800-835-0113 Thank you, GPI Sales team.

Can you use a water trap type filter with this hand pump?

Asked by: Jrl farm
Yes, a water trap filter can be used. Technically any filter can be used as long as it can perform at or above 10 gallons per minute/100 revolutions.

Will this pump work on the delta 37 gal auxiliary fuel tanks?

Asked by: Landy
Yes, as long as it has the standard 2" thread and you go no more than a 3' suction lift.

can it be used on a 55 gallon drum to pump 15w-40 oil

Asked by: Mississippi boy
The RP-10 has been approved for use with medium weight oils up to 30W. As long as the oil remains at room temperature in the drum the oil will not reach the higher viscosity and shouldn't cause issues. The dry prime capabilities are capable of picking up from the bottom of a 55 gallon drum as well so long as the drum is properly vented.
