Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very solid tiller I purchased an Earthquake Versa rototiller about a month ago and so far it has performed very well. It has plenty of power even in rougher, virgin terrain, handles well, goes through small tree roots decently and simply gets the job done. I am very happy with this acquisition. My thoughts on improvements are the following: 1. A little bigger gas tank, I feel like I need to fill it more than I should when tilling larger areas 2. Consider adding a quick release style bolt or cotter pin to help keep the side guards in place. They tend to slide back on their own from time to time. This isn't a big deal, just < $1 in parts would be nice here 3. Should there be an " sharp edge" on the tine blades? Seems like they might dig even better then but I'll leave that one to the engineers 4. The engine is great but maybe update it to a modern version that doesn't require the old-fashioned choke system to start it up. This isn't a real issue, just annoying especially on the initial start up since the system had been without fuel 5. Consider packaging enhancements. When it arrived the box was damaged and the plastic cap on the handlebar adjustment was broke off. This is a tough one to resolve but consider some outside the box thinking - no pun intended. However, the customer service team had a free replacement sent out ASAP and resolved the minor hiccup quickly, great service Again, overall, this tiller was the most bang for the buck when I made this decision and had always heard good things about Earthquake so the decision was easy. Now after owning one and putting plenty of hours on it, I am very happy with this purchase and my experience has solidified my positive attitude towards Earthquake products.

What is the difference between Earthquake tillers, SKU # 119631499, SKU # 122838999? They are not the same tiller. I like the 11in. tilling depth on both but I don't want to be drug across the yard.

Asked by: RGrace
Hello~ I am Kelsey with Earthquake Customer Care. Thank you for your inquiry. This is the same Tiller. SKU #122838999 is sold In-Store only but you can purchase it online but you have to pick it up at the store. SKU # 119631499 is for Online purchase only which the item will be shipped directly to you. The Versa has a throttle control that will allow you to control the speed you want to walk behind your tiller so you are not being pulled across the garden. Thank you~

What is the difference between Earthquake tillers, SKU # 119631499, SKU # 122838999, SKU # 104580199. Most received good reviews but one did not, why? Confused drail

Asked by: drail
Hi Drail, the first two SKU are for our Versa tiller, the reason that there are two different part numbers for the same product is that one's packaging is made for truck shipping, so that it can be drop shipped directly to customers and the other one's packaging was designed for truck shipments to the store where TSC sells directly in store. That's where you see the price difference. The last tiller is the Vector tiller, which is a different tiller than the Versa. They are similar tillers, but the Versa has some added features with the removable tine shields and a few other upgrades from the previous years model (Vector). Thanks!

Are tools required to assemble? If so what kind? I've read the reviews and assembly is 'easy' - but I don't know what skill level the users are and what is required? Shade tree, Tinker or Master mechanic?

Asked by: BevWood
This tiller is easy enough for most any adult to assemble. Most of the parts are already assembled, they just need to be aligned to the desired positions.

I am not familiar with the Earthquake brand. Why does this tiller have a 5 yr warranty whereas the Cub Cadet has a 3 yr warranty?

Asked by: drail
Hi Drail, Earthquake has been around for more than 50 years in outdoor power equipment, specializing in tillers, augers, and other outdoor power equipment. We stand behind our product with an industry leading 5 year limited manufacturer's warranty.
