The Earthquake MC43 Cultivator is great for weeding, mixing, and aerating your garden soil. Featuring an overhand handlebar, the MC43 allows for both forward and backward operation making it easy to maneuver around delicate plants. The lightweight 43cc, 2-cycle Viper engine provides more torque than similar sized cultivators, and the solid bronze gear drive ensures smooth operation and long transmission life. On-board wheels adjust for tilling or transport while the drag stake controls speed and cultivating depth up to 8" deep. The outer tines are removable, offering a larger 10" width for open spaces and a smaller 6" width for narrow cultivating. Tines can be reversed to help tackle harder soil or stubborn weeds. Assembly requires no tools and can be completed in a matter of minutes. Backed by an industry leading 5-Year Limited Warranty and a U.S.-based support team, the M43 Cultivator will perform for years to come. For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

Q: Is it strong enough to break up ground that hasn't been tilled before. There should be no clay or rocks under the soil

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! Since your soil is free of heavy clay and rocks, the powerful 43cc engine on this Earthquake cultivator is strong enough to break up that fresh, untilled ground. Because this compact machine is lightweight, it will naturally want to bounce on hard topsoil, so you will just need to pull back firmly on the handles to force the tines to dig in deep. Taking it slow and making a few shallow, overlapping passes will have your brand-new garden plot completely broken up and ready for planting in no time!

Out of box go till

I bought the MC43 assembled in minutes put gas/oil mixture in tank, turned switch on, pushed primer bulb 6 times 3 pulls it started, I went directly to garden and put it to work, after about 30 minutes I shut it off for about 45 minutes, pushed the primer bulb once and chocked it, one pull it started. Took my son in law out to show it to him 1 hour later and pulled the rope 2 times and it started, I had pressed the primer bulb 3 times and then realized I had not put the chock on, how about that !!! I would recommend this unit just if anything that right out of the box it went to work.

Inaccurate description

Description of product says the depth of till is deeper than it actually is. We needed a till depth of about 9-10" and this gave us just a few inches. Warrenton Tractor Supply staff was very unreasonable about returning, I had to actually purchase a gas tank to empty the gas in the parking lot before they would consider the return. It really wasn't their fault for the inaccurate description, but staff there are often rude and can be unreasonable to work with.

I have had this for three years and every year I have nothing but problems with this machine. Complete waste of money. Has not ran right since the day I brought it home.

No, I do not recommend this product.
