Great value.

I bought this 2 years ago and I'm getting more this year. Price beats local competitor by a dollar per bag, plus this stuff has magnesium in the lime. Pellets spread well with little dust. Limestone takes a year to show so spread anytime of year, preferably prior to using other fertilizers.

Not happy

Have used Pelletized lime from tractor supply for a few years now. Always been very satisfied with product. I use it for food plots usually buying around 1 ton per year. I put it out using a spin spreader off of an atv. It never goes without some clogging due to small clumps or slightly damp product ,but nothing to complain about. Started out buying 25 bags this year. Nice employee and I had to pick through the pallets to try to get bags that didn't weren't obviously wet or hard. Upon spreading i probably stiil had 10 bags that were dry, 12 that had clumps or were damp which kept clogging the spreader ,3 that was so wet i had to just throw on ground and spread with a shovel. I do not believe this is the fault of tractor supply. These pallets were still wrapped from factory. Extra time ,work and aggrivation.

Compromised Product.

Purchased one bag at the Smithville Tn. Store yesterday. When I started to get it out of the truck bed it had a dark substance on the bag. Wet. When I opened the bag there were two or three large clumps in the bag that were saturated with the same substance. I can e-mail photo.

This is calcite limestone (not Dolomitic)

Buyer beware, this is not Dolomitic Limestone (there are two types of limestone, calcite or dolomite). A safe way to identify dolomite is the label. Dolomite is characterized by calcium & magnesium carbonates at a ratio of 1.2 to 1. For example a dolomite table would read: Calcium (Ca) 21% (water soluble calcium), Magnesium (Mg) 13% ,Calcium carbonate (CaCo3) 54% Magnesium carbonate (MgCo3) 45-46%. As you see: the carbonates (54% and 46%) have a ratio 1.2 to 1. The elemental Ca & Mg (released as the carbonates break down in acid) are 1.62 to 1. As for the in store product, the ratio of the plant available nutrients is Calcium (Ca) 30% to Magnesium (Mg) 3% (10:1) and thus it should be correctly labeled Pelletized Calcite (not dolomite). I’ll make an update to this post if I find something in store that has the dolomitic ratio (higher in Mg at the ratio that would make it dolomite). The reason this matters is for agriculture purposes, plants need to be a proper nutrient schedule. Thus Dolomitic Limestone provides the right ratios, with ample magnesium and calcium. However Calcite Limestone would leave the plant deficient in Magnesium and thus it would need to be supplemented or the plants will be deficient.

I purchased 8 bags of lime and brought them home, 30 miles away. When I opened them, 3 were water soaked and could not be used .
