Compromised Product.

Purchased one bag at the Smithville Tn. Store yesterday. When I started to get it out of the truck bed it had a dark substance on the bag. Wet. When I opened the bag there were two or three large clumps in the bag that were saturated with the same substance. I can e-mail photo.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This is calcite limestone (not Dolomitic)

Buyer beware, this is not Dolomitic Limestone (there are two types of limestone, calcite or dolomite). A safe way to identify dolomite is the label. Dolomite is characterized by calcium & magnesium carbonates at a ratio of 1.2 to 1. For example a dolomite table would read: Calcium (Ca) 21% (water soluble calcium), Magnesium (Mg) 13% ,Calcium carbonate (CaCo3) 54% Magnesium carbonate (MgCo3) 45-46%. As you see: the carbonates (54% and 46%) have a ratio 1.2 to 1. The elemental Ca & Mg (released as the carbonates break down in acid) are 1.62 to 1. As for the in store product, the ratio of the plant available nutrients is Calcium (Ca) 30% to Magnesium (Mg) 3% (10:1) and thus it should be correctly labeled Pelletized Calcite (not dolomite). I’ll make an update to this post if I find something in store that has the dolomitic ratio (higher in Mg at the ratio that would make it dolomite). The reason this matters is for agriculture purposes, plants need to be a proper nutrient schedule. Thus Dolomitic Limestone provides the right ratios, with ample magnesium and calcium. However Calcite Limestone would leave the plant deficient in Magnesium and thus it would need to be supplemented or the plants will be deficient.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great quality and spreads easily with a drop spreader. Lawn loved it. Got lucky and had some light rain come through the next day
