Alfahay comes in a 50 pound bag and is the closest thing to fresh cut alfalfa. Alfahay is a NON-GMO alfalfa that is fermented with apple cider vinegar. Alfahay is a 50% moisture product and will be moist. Alfahay is for horses, cattle, pigs, deer, goats, sheep, birds, and exotics. Unlike other feeds that are dried, Alfahay is cut and packed with its natural moisture. This locks in all the fresh nutrition of the plant. Alfahay then undergoes a fermentation process after being bagged to produce beneficial yeasts and bacteria. That's why we call it "Probiotic Alfalfa In A Bag." Yeast Cultures will be white, circular shaped, and are GREAT for your animals. Please see photos. Some animals may take longer to become accustomed to Alfahay while others will eat it right away. They are all different - be patient and give them time to investigate it.
For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

Alfahay is to be used for the portion of the animals roughage intake. The normal intake per day of Alfahay is very different from animal to animal. Age, condition, workload, and other feed intakes will factor into how much Alfahay the animal eats per day. Start by feeding 1 pound per hundred weight per day to horses and equivalent sized animals. Feed 2 pounds per hundred weight per day to smaller animals like deer and goats. Gradually (over 7-14 days) increase the quantity until you feel the desired condition of the animal is achieved. Alfahay is not to be used as the only source of feed.
Introduce Alfahay slowly to any animal and increase their intake over a few daysSome animals will take longer to become accustomed to Alfahay - give them timeAlfahay is a 50% moisture product - yes it is supposed to be moist

Q: Does a spoiled bag smell rancid and like vomit when opened? I bought my fourth bag today at TSC and it smelled very off. TSC is going to replace it.
2 months ago- AI-generatedA: Spoiled bags can smell rancid and unpleasant. The product is fermented with apple cider vinegar, so it should normally smell like vinegar or have a fermented, pickle-like scent. If a bag smells rancid or significantly off from that typical vinegar smell, it may be spoiled, especially if the bag was torn or improperly sealed.2 months agoHelpful?
