Item Information

High Fiber Chopped Hay is a measured blend of timothy, oat and alfalfa hay, with added molasses and short chopped for easier chewing and digestibility. Great for the older horse as well as maintenance of the pleasure horse. Dried at a high temperature to lock in the natural nutrition.

  • Eliminates harmful mold spores that are detrimental to horses with respiratory problems

Ingredients:
Dehydrated Chopped Timothy Hay, Oat Hay, Alfalfa Hay, Cane Molasses, Propionic Acid (Preservative).

Guaranteed Analysis:

Phosphorus (min.) 0.2%

Feeding Instructions:
Determine the proper amount according to the horse's age, weight, temperament and work load.
When fed as the sole forage ration, feed 1% - 1.5% of the horse's bodyweight per day.
When fed as a supplement, feed 4 to 6 lb. per day.
When fed as a partial hay replacement, feed on a pound for pound exchange rate.
This feed can be fed in a bucket, in a corner feeder mixed with the daily grain ration or even outside in a feed tub. However you choose to feed, remember to calculate your feed by weight not volume. As a guide, a 5-gallon water bucket packed full with our forage weighs approximately 5 pounds.
*Always make changes to your horse's diet gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days.

My Horse LOVES the Manna Pro Hi Fiber Chopped Hay...27yr old who tends to drop weight when boarded ....I supplement with this to help him maintain his weight. Excellent for his heaves/reactive airway disease from dusty hay ...this product has NO DUST! Truly 5 Star! Across the board it is a great product for so many issues horse suffer from or just feeding as a treat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product My horse is a 16 yr old Apendix rescue. He was underweight & had trouble chewing regular hay. I started using this moistened with hay pellets. He LOVES it & has filled out & is doing great now. I highly recommend this great product. It lasts a long time as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excited to see how well my senior is doing on this Recently started feed this to my senior appendix. He's 24 years old. Moved him to a friends house in July and we put him on his. He was underweight when he was dropped off to my friend. Within a month he has picked up the weight he was missing plus alittle more :-) we currently don't have him on grain due to the amount of grass in the field. He gets this hay twice a day and a bag is lasting him 2 weeks.

What is the shelf life of this chopped hay?  Do you have to be careful to not get hole in plastic packaging while storing (like chaffhaye)?

Asked by: Becky66
According to the vendor: "The product has a 1 year shelf life. If the bag develops holes it will not cause the product to spoil quicker."

Is there enough molasses to noticeable/sticky? Or is it just a light misting that you can't tell is in there?

Asked by: 3horsie
The Hi-Fiber forage is slightly ‘moist’ with molasses upon opening. If the bag is left open to the air the forage will dry out. The molasses is blended in, not misted.

SO A 900 lb senior horse could eat between 5 lbs ( a 5 gallon bucket full) up to 9 lbs per day?

Asked by: katniss
Yes, the horse should be fed between 5-9 lbs of High Fiber Hay per day if it is being fed alongside a complete grain diet. If this is the only source of nutrition for this horse it needs a minimum of 18 pounds per day to maintain it.

Is there any reason this can't be fed in small amounts to my Chinchilla? Like horses, they are ruminants

Asked by: ladyjagator
If fed sparingly in small amounts we do not see feeding Hi-Fiber to chinchillas problematic.
