Q: This is 3cu ft and weighs 27 lbs. the regular shavings is 8 cu ft and weighs 22 lbs. the fine is 5.5 cu ft and weighs 24 lbs. i would normalky think finer shavings are heavier due to a more dense packing. But the weights are nowhere close to equal. Why?

I use these for my horse stall. I have one horse. I do not see buying a bulk of them. I buy them here and there. I have a 12x12 stall and two bags are perfect to fill the stall. I really like the super fine shavings, easy clean up, easy to save the clean shavings and not wasting. Low dust will if any. These really freshen up the stall.
