The Tech Team Farm Gate Slide Bolt Latch Set is the biggest and strongest slide bolt gate latch available anywhere that is designed to work on tubular steel farm gates. The construction and design will hold up to serious livestock pressure. The bolt is solid steel and is a full 15 in. long x 3/4 in. diameter. The brackets are heavy, precision welded carbon steel and both have a salt spray rated zinc electroplate finish. No welding required, the latch attaches with custom clamps with a flat inside radius for maximum grip without pinching or binding. The latch plates are punched for mounting to wood gates.

Just needs a retainer for the bolt.

The bolt action is great - as others have pointed out, make sure your gates are aligned. The only drawback is that there's not a retainer to keep the bolt from sliding all the way out. One more angled clamped bracket would provide a stop. It would be nice so I don't have to be as careful. Hands-free would be invaluable when opening both gates, moving vehicles, herding livestock, etc.

Perfect solution for one hand operation

Initially gates were secured by chain fastener supplied with gates. It became quickly obvious that was problematic especially with a overly zealous ram in the field, lol. This latch is the perfect solution.
