Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix thrives in a variety of conditions with root-building nutrition for a stronger lawn. The combination seed, fertilizer, and soil improver can be used for growing a new lawn or overseeding an existing lawn in 3 steps: 1) prep the area 2) apply the seed, and 3) rake the seed into the soil. For best results, plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. Water daily or as needed to keep the soil moist for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height. Scotts goes to great lengths to bring you the freshest seed available, incorporating everything from the packaging design to the product formula and the seed itself, so you can grow your own thick, beautiful lawn. For best results, always use fresh product. After opening, plant within the season.

Bought a dethatcher, then aerated, seeded with Scotts sun and shade, used starter fertilizer and got poor results after over 25 days. Began early September in the state of CT. Waste of money and time.

not all the seeds work... 70-75%...

I purchased the largest bag available and used it for 1/3 of the sqft area advertised hoping that it was going to even fuller than normal... i followed the spreader and watering instructions to the dot... the results after 3-4 weeks were not what I expected... Several areas with blanks..... so now i will have to reseed in all the blank spaces... I am wondering what would have happened if i used it in the area advertised... the blanks would have been even more...

Soil temperatures must be at least 55°F and daytime temperatures need to consistently be above 65°F. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Apply Scotts Turf Builder Sun & Shade Mix with Root Building Nutrients in an area that provides full sun to medium shade. This seed mix requires at least 4 hours direct or filtered sunlight per day.
