Squirrel proof?

We received this feeder as a gift from a friend. It is the sturdiest one I have ever owned and holds a good amount of feed. It however is not squirrel proof. I have a picture to prove that but this review will not upload pictures.

Birds get trapped inside of feeder

The birds like it. We fill it with sunflower seeds. When the seeds get low, the birds climb up inside of the feeder and get trapped. This has happened at least five times including the his morning.

It's my favorite very beautiful and sturdy and had been weather resistance and love each of the bird houses we have a collection just from Tractor Supply alone and just a few from other stores definitely makes our Family and Friends happy when they see all of our collection

This bird feeder holds a lot of seed so it doesn't need to be filled more than once a day. One drawback although is that there are several sharp edges and it seems to be rather flimsy so I'm not sure how long it will last.

Small birds getting trapped in it

I love the look, and the ease of refilling and cleaning this feeder. However, I have found several small birds that have somehow been able get into the seed area and became trapped/ unable to get back out. (Unfortunately, one even died before I was able to let it out by removing the lid.) There ought to be a screen of some sort that can prevent small birds getting inside. I am trying to improvise something with garden mesh that will be large enough to let seeds through to the feeding area, but will stop birds from getting underneath it.

Not a single bird has used this. Horrible design. Wish we had read reviews before buying in the store. Do not purchase! Waste of money. I am going to see if I can modify it to get rid of the moving perch, make the holes smaller
