Royal Wing Finch Sock Feeder Prefilled with Nyjer Seed, 25 oz. is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finch Magnet We had maybe 4 finches in the yard at the beginning of last winter. I put out one feeder and with 1 day it was empty. Bought a second feeder and filled the first one up, I had to buy 40 Lbs. Thistle seed and another sock feeder for the front yard. This year we will have at least 4 feeders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Finch Feeder We had a tubular 4 station finch feeder and about 6 finches that visited us frequently. We picked up a Thistle Sock Feeder and immediately had more finches at the feeder than ever before. Within 24 hours our trees were full of finches waiting their turn. We picked up another Thistle Sock Feeder and on an average day there are 6 to 8 finches on each of the socks. We have had such great results with the Thistle Sock Feeders that we plan to add more.

Is there any way to keep the seed from getting wet when it rains?

Asked by: Bird lover 55
You could try using a baffle over the feeder to keep the seeds from getting wet.

When it rains, won't the seed get wet and have to be thrown out? It rains a lot, here in Mississippi

Asked by: Bird lover 55
Yes seeds will get wet, if seeds get wet and molds please replace it.

How often do you need to change the sock?

Asked by: Mr Frank
There is no specific time to replace. Typically when it is empty you would replace the sock or when the birds stop feeding on it. These socks are not meant to be refilled. If the seed gets moldy or something like that from getting wet then probably replacing sooner would be better.
