Purina® Organic Starter-Grower feed is certified USDA Organic and is made with non-GMO ingredients. It contains the optimal combination of all the required nutrients chicks need to grow and develop into happy, healthy hens, no need to supplement. Purina® Organic Starter-Grower is a complete feed for young laying chickens from hatch to laying age (18-20 weeks). Purina® Organic Starter-Grower feed will provide your birds with the proper levels of energy, protein (18%), vitamins and minerals that are perfect for a strong start and early hen development.

Feed Purina Start & Grow Medicated feed to layer chicks from day one through week 18 as at least 90 percent of the chick's diet. Transition to Purina Layena, Purina Layena+ Free Range or Layena+ Omega-3 feed at week 18.
Use as the sole source of amprolium. Do not change the litter while giving this feed unless absolutely necessary. If losses exceed 0.5% in a two (2) day period, obtain an accurate diagnosis, and follow the instructions of your veterinarian or poultry pathologist. Losses may result from intercurrent disease or other conditions under field conditions. In replacement flocks, the grower must expect that excessive exposure to one or more species may overwhelm the drug in some flocks and prompt treatment will be required. Do not use in feeds containing bentonite.

- A: Thanks for choosing Purina. This is certified as organic and will not be treated with chemicals. Secondly, only GMO crops are able to survive being sprayed with glyphosate. If you were to treat an organic crop with glyphosate, it would no longer be able to claim “organic” status, and it would die. Infested with pantry moths.

Been using this product for years. I would give it a 5 star review but in the last 6 months there has been an infestation of pantry moths contained in the bags of feed. It has to be coming from the manufacture as no other feed is affected even when stacked together. I would say that the bag is crawling when opened. Please identify, contain, and fix the problem so I can bump this product to an 5 star and start purchasing it again.

A great all around chick starter

A great all around chick starter crumble. I switched to crumble instead of grain up until the age of 4-5 weeks, as it is much safer than grain at this age. The chicks enjoy this food and it gives them all the nutrients they need, instead of being able to pick out pieces they prefer, as in the seed mixes.

This has got to be the worst food EVER. Poop smells like sour laundry. Like someone else said, it's big crumble, not small. I had to use my mortar and pestle to grind and make a paste when one of my ducks got sick. This is extremely dusty. I've noticed both my ducks and chickens sneezing after I pour this, but they're fine with the regular medicated crumble. I'm pretty sure my duck's eye infection was caused due to dust irritation by this product. Gross. Please do not buy.

My chicks love it! Purina chicken feeds are always very high quality and they always seem to enjoy the taste. They immediately start pecking away when I refill their feed bowls with this feed. My chicks are also growing like weeds and have beautiful, healthy coats, and lively dispositions. I credit all this to Purina feeds because this is what they've had since they were all tiny.

Do not buy this feed, stick to the regular medicated purina starter feed. This creates so many problems with pasty butt that no other regular feed even comes close to creating. This would be a horrible feed for a beginner chicken owner to use.

I am very pleased with this, had a problem with "sticky butt" chicks with a cheaper feed, and switched immediately. No problems with this one. Used for heritage stock, Buff Orpingtons, Ameraucana's. It is a little more expensive, but for young birds, it gives me peace of mind they are not getting glycophosphates in their food, and I like the probiotics.

I’ve been feeding this to my backyard flock for the better part of 6 months now. I couldn’t be happier. The eggs are delicious and I don’t worry about my two year old son eating chemicals when I feed this. Me and my breakfast crew both think it’s the best feed on the market!
