Rated 5 out of 5 by from Colt Loved Them My picky colt who struggles to finish his feed actually ate 98% of these oats on the first day! He even cleaned up the oats he spilled which he never bothered to do with his other feed. I also mix calf manna with these oats.

Would this be good to feed a 38 year old horse along with his senior pellets?

Asked by: Fisherme
It is recommended to feed older horses the senior horse feed since the ingredients have been ground into a soft pellet for easy chewing and digestion. If you fed the whole oats to a senior horse of this age, they may not be able to break down the whole oat by chewing and or digestion.

Do the oats have their peels/chaff/skins...still on them? Or am I getting just the kernel?

Asked by: Mitch Sirois
These are whole oats. Whole oats have the outer shell, or hull, completely intact and are the least processed of all the oat varieties. The hull offers additional fiber to aid digestion.

Since white tail deer have a 4 chamber stomach/rumin, I'm assuming this can be fed to them?

Asked by: Pgb123
We don’t recommend feeding oats to deer because it doesn’t contain the vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed. I would advise to get a deer specific product.

Are these oats sub par? Quality Oats should be closer to 12% protein and 5% fat.

Asked by: James1944
These oats are not sub-par oats. A 12% protein and 5% fat whole oat is extremely hard to achieve as a guarantee, especially without oils added to the oat which would then add to base protein and fat.
