Item Information

Maximize your yard space for your pet. With the PetSafe YardMax Rechargeable In-Ground Fence, your pet is kept securely in your yard using buried wire, a transmitter and a rechargeable receiver collar. When your pet nears the boundary of buried wire, a warning tone is emitted from his collar, followed by a safe, static correction to remind him to stay in his fence. In YardMax Mode, the Warning Zone begins on the other side of the boundary instead of within your yard, giving your pet more yard space. The Boundary Zone continues past the Warning Zone indefinitely, so your pet can't run past the Boundary Zone. Your pet will receive corrections from the collar until he returns to the Pet Area, or until the safety time-out activates after 15 seconds. This helps your pet learn exactly where his boundaries are.

  • System Includes: Transmitter with mounting hardware and power adapter, YardMax rechargeable receiver with adjustable collar fits neck sizes 6 to 28 inches, surge protector, receiver collar charger, short and long contact points, operating and training guide, 500 feet of 20-gauge boundary wire, 50 training flags, waterproof splice capsules and Twist-On Wire Connectors, & test light tool and contact point wrench

PetSafe YardMax Rechargeable In-Ground Fence is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works great but collars break too easy This is my second system after the first two collars broke and no replacements could be found. I bought this version as a replacement for a dog that was already trained so didn’t use much. I now have a puppy and started using. Collar broke 2 months after using. I have been to local pet store to replace and after talking to salesmen regarding my model number, I came home with the wrong one. For all my wasted time, it is cheaper to buy new system than buy replacement collars. My old system had a perimeter setting that worked great. Using existing wire made it easy. This system doesn’t seem to correct till they cross so my dog can be on the sidewalk with passerby before he gets corrected. I would prefer to set perimeter myself than bury new line away from sidewalk. Longest prongs are too short for long hair. I had to use the prongs from old system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works flawlessly going on five years Helping my dad select and install a dog fence. Came here and noticed some bad reviews. My experience has been much better. I installed Yardmax just about 5 years ago, and everything still works perfectly. I have three dogs and four collars (one dog is really big and stubborn - he wears two collars at once :) All four collars still work, still hold a charge for about a month, and have survived all the roughhouse play. We use the short prongs, and leave the collars on the dogs all day every day, and take them off at night for bedtime. System works great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality Cheap components... collar cracked within the first month. Seemed inconsistent too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Fence...Horrible Collar. We have had the same problem with the collar as everyone else. One prong broke off. Collar will not work pay that much it should last longer than 2 years. We've been trying to go without using the collar or system for some time now but the Dane has figured it out and wont stay in her yard. To expensive for them to keep breaking. If there is more than one person having this problem the warranty should be looked at. Just saying!

Is the transmitter plugged into an electrical outlet or is it battery operated and rechargeable ?

Asked by: Tippy52
Thank you for your question! The transmitter unit must be plugged into a power outlet or equivalent power source in order to function.

In YardMax mode, how does the collar receiver know it's approaching the boundary wire from inside the containment area or outside the containment area?

Asked by: DannyBoy2
Thank you for this great question! The collar only responds based on signal; the collar itself does not 'know' whether it is inside or outside the boundary. In YardMax mode, no signal is emitted from the wire on the interior side. This means that the collar will only activate when they begin to cross the wire. The collar will then activate until they back up within the containment area and it loses signal, they pass forward out of the extended signal area and the collar loses signal, or until the collar activates for the maximum amount of 15 seconds. In either case, the collar will not be able to activate again until the collar approaches the wire from the interior side again. This means that if your pet did leave the yard, no static correction would occur for crossing back into the yard.

Does the wire have to be continuous (not broken) or can we use house as one boundary ?

Asked by: Tippy52
That's a great question! The wire does need to be in a continuous loop, that both starts and ends at the transmitter. However, you can still use the house as a side of the boundary, by using our Double Loop Layout. If you could give us a call at 1-800-732-2677, we'd be happy to discuss layout options in more detail!

How deep does the wire need to be buried

Asked by: Vinceminix
That's a great question! We recommend the wire to be buried 1-3 inches.
