Q: can this be run along the middle or top of a chain-link fence for a dog that climbs?
28 days ago- A: Thank you for asking about this! We would not recommend running wire along metallic fencing, as it would be very likely that this would cause signal interference. Though wire can be run on an existing fence, if your fence is metallic we would recommend running the wire a minimum of 5 feet from the metal fencing. We do apologize for any inconvenience this causes. To discuss a layout that may work for you and your dog, please reach out to our live support team. Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. EST.27 days agoHelpful?
Q: what tool is needed for putting wire in ground?
2 months ago- A: Thank you for asking about this! Customers do choose to do this in a few different ways. Some use a trowel or hoe to manually dig a trench, while others may use tools such as an edger or rent a trench digger, etc. The wire should be buried 1-3" below the surface; we would not recommend going deeper than this.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: How much cable comes with the kit and can i buy more if needed?
Anonymous4 months ago- A: Thank you for asking about this, Ron! As mentioned in the item title, this kit comes with 500 feet of wire. If you need more wire to cover the area you have, the transmitter that comes with this system can cover up to 25 acres, so you can certainly add compatible wire. Any 16-20 gauge copper insulated wire purchased from your local Tractor Supply or other hardware store can be used to add wire to this system.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: I want to install the wire in ground outside of my chain link fence, and my dog will be in the inside area of the chain link fence, will this work? Wil chainlink fence interfere with the signal, we don't have alot of room to burry the wire inside chainlin
7 months ago- A: Thank you for asking about this, Bruce! Any metal or electronic item near the fence wire will be likely to cause signal interference that could affect the entire fence. For this reason, if using this fence in a yard that has chainlink, we would recommend running the wire 5-10 feet within the fence boundary to minimize the chance of interference. As you will need to do a double loop layout if covering only a back yard or only a front yard, this would extend the wire by several feet into the yard area. So that we can determine if this would be a good solution for you and your dog or if there may be a better fit, please reach out to us! Q: Is there an option for XL or XXL collar
8 months ago- A: Thank you for this question, Greg! Though this collar does not come in sizes, it will fit most necks. This collar strap fits necks from 6-28". If your dog's neck is larger than 28", you can purchase a second collar strap and connect two together to form a strap that fits. If you need to purchase an additional strap separately or if you have any other questions, please get in touch with us! Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. EST.8 months agoHelpful?
Q: Is there an option for more than 500 ft?
8 months ago- A: This is a great question, Greg! Yes, you can add compatible 16-20 gauge copper insulated wire to the wire that comes with this system to cover larger areas. The transmitter that comes with this system can cover up to 25 acres with the purchase of additional wire.8 months agoHelpful?
Q: Do you have to bury the wire or can it be laid on top of dirt?
8 months ago- A: This is a great question, Logan! The wire does not have to be buried. If run on top of the ground, however, we would recommend running the wire through a non-metallic conduit such as PVC pipe, aquarium airline tubing, garden hoses with the metal ends cut off, etc.; this will help protect the wire against damage.8 months agoHelpful?
Q: I have a 4 foot high wire fence. Can I run thge wire through the fence rather than digging holes?
8 months ago- A: This is a great question! Though wire can be run on non-metallic fencing, we would not recommend running the wire on a metal fence. This is because metal within 5 feet of the fence line can cause signal interference that would affect the entire line and could leave the system unable to function as intended. For best operation, we would recommend installing the wire a minimum of 5 feet from anything metal or electronic.8 months agoHelpful?
Q: What gage is wire
9 months ago- A: Thank you for asking, the wire that comes with the system is 20 gauge.9 months agoHelpful?
