Rated 4 out of 5 by from Always check the wire Check the wire before you start. The spool that came with the unit had a break in it. Other that that everything is great. Few easy training sessions and we now have a contained dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! It Lasts! I have had my stubborn dog in-ground fence for about 5-6 years now and I have never had any issues! I am glad I didn't go with the wireless personally because I love that you can customize the shape you want. Only took a day to dig all the line in with a line digger I rented. Works PERFECT! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Am I able to use the receiver on my own store bought collar? My dog goes through at least 2 collars a year.

Asked by: Phil J
This is a great question, Phil! You may place your receiver on a different collar strap if you wish. When doing so you will want to use a strap the same width so that the receiver will rest properly on your pet. Also, you may use the PetSafe strap as a template to make sure the holes are in the correct placement. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677. We would be happy to help!

What is the best way to detect a break in the in-ground fence wire?

Asked by: Homer 50
Great question, Homer! When your transmitter alarms, step one is to do the Short Loop Test. If your transmitter passes this test, the next step is to check the splices and high-traffic areas for corrosion or damage. If you are still unable to find the break, you can split the fence in half with a temporary stretch of wire and test each side. If you continue to have trouble, please reach out to us directly at PetSafe for troubleshooting needs.

How many volts do dogs receive?

Asked by: Caballomom
The static correction intensity will vary depending on how the collar is set. While we may not be able to provide voltage information for these products, we can tell you that this collar offers the strongest static levels when set to the highest setting. The lower levels are much milder and it is best to start on these levels and only increase if necessary. Since dogs' necks are not very sensitive usually, some dogs may need that stronger correction to feel anything. We hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at 1-800-732-2677 if you have further questions and we'll be happy to see how we can help.

would the transmitter be able to handle a total of 6200 feet of wire

Asked by: out on the farm
The PetSafe Stubborn Dog In-Ground Fence can support up to 10 acres or 2,400 feet of wire. The PetSafe Rechargeable In-Ground Fence System and PetSafe YardMax Rechargeable In-Ground Fence can support up to 25 acres or 4,100 feet of wire however the correction levels are not as strong as the Stubborn Dog Collar. You may want to consider the fence made by our sister company SportDOG Brand. The SportDOG In-Ground Fence can cover up to 100 acres or 8,350 feet of wire and the static correction levels are comparable to the Stubborn Dog Collar. We hope this helps!

Will this product work if I bury wire in two separate locations ( around front door and around back/side yard area) with one system?

Asked by: Mabel73
The boundary created by the wire will need to be one continuous loop. The wire should be placed at least 5 feet from your home to prevent any interference with the system. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care Team at 1-800-732-2677 for assistance in determining the best layout for your property.

We purchased a house which has the in ground wires still in place. Will they need replaced or can they be used.

Asked by: jack44
Thanks for your question, Jack! As long as the wire is intact and not damaged and is of a compatible type/size, it should still work great. Our systems are compatible with insulated copper wire between 14-20 gauge. Both stranded-core and solid-core will work fine.

How close to the wire does the collar activate?

Asked by: Ebrake7q
Hello there, great question! You will actually be able to adjust this distance using the boundary width dial numbered 1-10 which is located on the transmitter. We recommend starting with a minimum of 3ft of signal coming off the wire. For further product assistance or questions, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-732-2677.

How do we protect the wire laying over a sidewalk? Does it need to be waterproofed?

Asked by: justgrandma
Hi there! it may help to put the wire in an expansion joint, the wire could be placed inside a hose, but the wire still may become damaged over time. If you have any questions about installation, please reach out to us directly at PetSafe.
