Item Information

PetSafe Basic In-Ground Fence keeps your pet safely contained in your yard. The system can be installed in about a weekend by burying the boundary wire in your yard and setting up the transmitter. Mark the boundary with the provided flags and then you can begin to train your dog. Most dogs learn their new boundaries in as little as two weeks.

  • If your pet gets too close to the yard boundary, the waterproof receiver collar reminds your pet with a warning beep, followed by a safe, static correction if he continues
  • Add an unlimited number of pets by purchasing an extra collar for each pet

Hello, I just purchased a wireless fence system and due to my property size and shape I will need to purchase the in ground wire system to better suit my dogs needs. Will the transmitters I currently have work with the other system? They look the same.

Asked by: gigi0923
Thank you for the question. Our wireless and in-ground fences do work on different frequencies. Although some of the equipment is similar in appearance, the wireless and in-ground equipment will not work with one another.

Our house is elevated on pilings can the loop be installed on the top of the pilings then dropping down to the ground to the perimeter of one side of the property and back to the pilings and up. With the range at 1-2' the dog could walk under high loop.

Asked by: Tom19963
Hi Tom, thank you for your question! You cannot attach the wiring to your pilings, as the wire must be buried or laid on top of the ground. Additionally, depending on where it is attached, any electrical wiring nearby or cables going up into your home can pick up the radio frequency, and disperse it throughout the containment area and your residence. For layout and installation assistance, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care Team at 1-800-732-2677.

If I mount the transmitter in my garage, will a parked vehicle interfere with the signal consistency?

Asked by: Jay27
Thank you for your question, Jay! As long as the transmitter unit and the wire can be set about 5' away from the vehicles, and any other metal objects or appliances, you should have no issues with interference.

Can the underground wire be place above ground, like an electric fence wire?

Asked by: Jigger
Yes, the wire can be placed above ground and the fence can still be functional. It's best to run the wire through a conduit or tubing to help protect it against possible damage from external forces such as wild animals, landscaping, or constant sun exposure. Be sure to follow the other guidelines established in the manual like keeping the boundary wire roughly 3-5 feet away from large metal objects and cables.

Hi I want to know if the wire surrounding the house can be buried underground and withstand temperatures into -20 to -30? We live in Minnesota and are expecting a very harsh winter.

Asked by: jessiehope18
What a great question! You can absolutely use our copper insulated wire during colder months with harsh temperatures like this. For more information on our wire, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-732-2677.

The PIG00-13661 covers up to 25 acres while the PIG00-14582 covers up to 5 acres. For any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to PetSafe directly at 1-800-732-2677.

if the wire is cut or disconnected will it alarm to let you know that the containment is down?

Asked by: cynsbeagles
That's a great question! For this particular system, the transmitter does not include a wire break alarm. However, there is a "loop" light on the front of the transmitter. If this loop light is out, it would indicate the same thing as a wire break alarm.
