Item Information

PetSafe Basic In-Ground Fence keeps your pet safely contained in your yard. The system can be installed in about a weekend by burying the boundary wire in your yard and setting up the transmitter. Mark the boundary with the provided flags and then you can begin to train your dog. Most dogs learn their new boundaries in as little as two weeks.

  • If your pet gets too close to the yard boundary, the waterproof receiver collar reminds your pet with a warning beep, followed by a safe, static correction if he continues
  • Add an unlimited number of pets by purchasing an extra collar for each pet

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! This was easy to install and I love the feature to choose how far from the boundary the warning beeps begin. Only think I wish is that it had a rechargeable battery like the old ones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t buy for anxious pups It’s seemed to work for a while, but I had no idea she was planning her escape. My dog was unfortunately traumatized by the first shock and waited until she was ready to depart. She broke through the fence. Still looking for her, but not sure if she’ll ever return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In ground dig fence Our petSafe in ground fence died & we needed a replacement that day. TS had it in stock & for a slightly better price than the pet stores. Installed in a few minutes & works like a charm with our dog.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, when it works properly I purchased my fence in 2012 and had no trouble until fall 2016, when the collar started shocking my dogs INSIDE the house. Thinking it was a transponder issue, I purchased a new one...again, worked fine until 3 weeks ago when started shocking inside the house. I replaced the batteries, rebooted the transponder, but still shocks inside the house. I'm at a loss...really rely on this fence. Not sure how else to problem solve...suggestions welcomed!

Hello, I just purchased a wireless fence system and due to my property size and shape I will need to purchase the in ground wire system to better suit my dogs needs. Will the transmitters I currently have work with the other system? They look the same.

Asked by: gigi0923
Thank you for the question. Our wireless and in-ground fences do work on different frequencies. Although some of the equipment is similar in appearance, the wireless and in-ground equipment will not work with one another.

Can the underground wire be place above ground, like an electric fence wire?

Asked by: Jigger
Yes, the wire can be placed above ground and the fence can still be functional. It's best to run the wire through a conduit or tubing to help protect it against possible damage from external forces such as wild animals, landscaping, or constant sun exposure. Be sure to follow the other guidelines established in the manual like keeping the boundary wire roughly 3-5 feet away from large metal objects and cables.

What is the technical differences between PetSafe In-Ground Fence - PIG00-13661 and PetSafe Basic In-Ground Fence - PIG00-14582?

Asked by: CharlieW
Great question, Charlie. Both the PetSafe In-Ground Fence and the PetSafe Basic In-Ground Fence function in the same way. However, the area that is covered by the system are different. The PIG00-13661 covers up to 25 acres while the PIG00-14582 covers up to 5 acres. For any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to PetSafe directly at 1-800-732-2677.

if the wire is cut or disconnected will it alarm to let you know that the containment is down?

Asked by: cynsbeagles
That's a great question! For this particular system, the transmitter does not include a wire break alarm. However, there is a "loop" light on the front of the transmitter. If this loop light is out, it would indicate the same thing as a wire break alarm.

Can you add more wire to make the area bigger?  I have  1 1/2 acres.

Asked by: KBond
This fence comes with a 500 foot spool of wire, but the transmitter can cover up to 5 acres of fencing. You will need approximately 1,200 feet of wire for 1.5 acres. The wire must be 20 gauge solid or stranded copper insulated wire graded for burial.

Can this be plugged into an electrical outlet outside.?

Asked by: Mannaheaven
No, it is best to install the transmitter somewhere that is dry, protected from weather, well-ventilated and temperature controlled. Most customers will put it in their garage or a closet and that works great as long as the other installation guidelines are followed. If you are concerned about running the wire outside your house, then you may be happy to know that the wire will be twisted in a way that cancels the signal until it gets the outside perimeter. This way, the collar will only activate at the boundary. The included installation guide will cover how to do this and we are happy to answer any further questions you might have at that point, too!

So our dog recently learned that he can jump the chain link fence. Would the chain link fence interfere with the transmitter?

Asked by: Wyattsmom
Thank you for your question! Though metal objects do have the potential to cause interference in the signal that is sent out from the wire, a large number of our customers install the boundary wire directly onto chain link fences without ever experiencing issues. We would, however, first recommend laying out your boundary wire, or a shorter test length of wire, and testing it for any interference before directly attaching it to the fence.
