Item Information

This professional-grade Ohio Steel Lawn Sweeper features an extra-large capacity 22 cu. ft. heavy-duty collector bag and a 42 in. sweeping path allowing you to get your lawn care finished quickly. Patented spiral brush sweeps more efficiently than standard sweepers and puts less stress on gears for long service life. "No-slip" positive lock height adjustment has numbered height settings that can be changed while viewing brush for proper adjustment. Hopper bag empties by pulling rope from the seat of your tractor - just reverse to debris or compost area, pull the rope and you're done! Extra wide 9 in. chute is less likely to clog, especially when sweeping damp grass clippings that can clump together. Reversible hitch allows for efficient level operation with any tractor hitch height - without the use of easy to lose spacer rings!

Ohio Steel 42 in. Lawn Sweeper, 22 cu. ft. is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Adjustment Handle Broke within an Hour Im not sure who came up with the product design, but there is a major flaw with the adjustment handle. I hadn't even been using the sweeper for more than five minutes and I had to stop and check to see why the wheel wasn't moving...the adjustment handle bolt had snapped and the handle was causing the tire to "brake". It's unfortunately really, I was looking forward to actually being able to use this but it doesn't look like I will...I will probably return it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like expected I bought the sweeper on Mother's day, as a cost effective replacement for a 35+ year old bagging riding mower that finally gave out. It appears to be an improved version of the 42SWP22, which had overall good reviews. It was easy to assemble, and the folding draw bar and center tension tube makes it easy to knock down and store against the wall. The only dings I can give is that the hardware blister pack was labeled with assembly step numbers that did not jibe with the instruction manual, though the sequence was correct. The large decal on the housing had a blister (trapped air). Also, the hopper bag bottom rests/rides on each side of the sweeper housing, which acts as a "knife edge" and will eventually crack the plastic. The housing should have been finished as a flanged lip to spread the load. I placed several layers of duct tape to the housing across the edge to act as a cushion. We'll see what happens. I live on 3 acres surrounded by woods. The ground is like pasture, far from a level suburban lot. I collect the leaves and shred them for mulch. I also collect grass clippings in season for mulch. When I mow, I windrow 3 passes back, then one pass out, with a 54 inch mower deck. This creates a fairly dense covering of clippings. I let them sit for about 24 hours to dry. I set the brush height per instructions, no deeper than 1/2 inch below the tips of the grass. I towed the sweeper at approximately 3 MPH. It picked up 90+% of the clippings in one pass, which suits me just fine. Compared to using a rake and dump cart, the sweeper took 1/4th the time, and no raking! It will be interesting to see how it handles the leaves in the fall. As for maintenance, I plan on using the hour meter on my garden tractor to track operating hours of the sweeper. I intend to periodically inspect the gearing/lubricant to determine the best frequency for cleaning and re-lubrication.

How do you fold it up to store in garage

Asked by: Dick36
The bag easily disconnects from the sweeper with the removal of two pins. Then simply remove the bag tension tube by unscrewing the thumb screw. The bag will now fold down into a nearly flat position. Position bag flat against wall or hang on wall. Move sweeper to wall of garage or shed, pull pin and fold drawbar into storage position.
