The Mr.Heater universal fuel filter is used for propane heaters including the Portable Buddy and Big Buddy. It works to filter contaminants often found in propane tanks and hoses to protect Buddy heaters from damage. It is most commonly used with a bulk cylinder and hose assembly.

Q: I bought this filter but it does not connect to my Big Buddy hose model F271803. why do you state that this filter works will all Mr Heater hoses?

  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The F271803 is a quick connect hose that doesn't require a fuel filter. The quick connect fitting on it is unique from all other Buddy hoses, and is the only one that won't connect to this filter. Have a great day!

Q: What model hose will fit this filter? I purchased one and it would not connect. I was hoping to get a 10-12 ft if possible.

  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. Any of the Buddy series hoses will connect to this filter. In 10' -12', you can use the F273704, F273702, or F272702R.

Q: I ordered both the hose and filter but the filter won't be here for a few more days, would it be okay to run the heater without the filter a couple of days.

  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. Without the filter, oils from the hose can find their way into the fuel lines of the heater, which can cause issues. There isn't a set time for how long it will take this to happen, so we don't recommend doing so at all.

We didn't realize we needed this untl about 2 days before the ice storm. We were fortunate there were some left in stock a one of the stores a little farther away. We did end up losing our electricity so we were very glad we had it.
