Husqvarna Mulch Deck Cover, 42 in.

Just bought my Z242F, it is replacing a 12 year old Ariens lawn tractor. I had a mulching kit on the Ariens so I purchased this kit for my zero. Very easy to install, but I did make one modification to the plug. I cut some rubber weather stripping that had adhesive on one side and glued it to the plug where it makes contact with the cutting deck. This modification stops the grass clippings from piling up on the cutting deck. Wonder why the manufacturer didn't include some sort of material to plug the gap?

Does not fit YTH 1942 42 inch tractor, labeled that it fits all 42 inch Husqvarna.

First of all, the mulch kit is mowing my yard just fine... However, when installing the kit I removed the standard safety shield (which was not indicated in the instructions). The instruction were to tie the shield up. I didn't like to have to climb over this shield to get on the mower... and if the kit does it's job, I will never need to use it again... So, I removed it. Problem is that there remains a small gap between the new shield and the deck with the safety shield removed. The top of the deck gets full of grass after each mowing. I would have preferred the kit be designed for the safety shields removal. With only two screws holding it to the deck, I can easily reinstall if I choose to go back to the standard configuration.

Good quality mowers blades and hardware. Deck cover opening could fit a little better but certainly does the job.
