Husqvarna Clear Cut Fabricated Deck Mulch Kit, 54 in.

I bought the mulcing kit when I bought my mower. Dealer installed it and I use it every Fall. We are surrounded by woods so we get plenty of lfeaves. It turns the leaves into fine debris. The kit comes with mulching blades, a cover for the dischrage chute, and a plate that goes under the deck that helps pull the leaves up and into the blades.

Works great! For my needs I completely removed the stock spring loaded chute before installing the kit. And, as suggested by somebody in a previous review, I installed a strip of self-adhesive 3/8" thick foam weatherstripping to the back edge of the new cover where it meets the deck, sealing it to the deck to prevent any of the cuttings from blowing out. I drilled that edge about midway so I could install a 1//3" self-tapping screw to ensure the seal is tight. This is a HUGE improvement! Without the seal, small amounts trimmings escape and settle in among the pulleys and towers and whatnot, eventually building up enough to be problematic. But that simple tip makes a great difference. Perhaps the manufacturer will include a seal with the kit. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the results!

Weld angles on the deck required bending the hooks and the bolts holes still don't align. Ended up with a cover and half of the plate. As much a problem with the mower deck weld job as the kit. Not sure any kit would fit.

I'm hard on equipment & I know it. "Use it til you break it then use it some more." That's me. First kit i bought worked great, lasted a good while. Let me lift the deflector shield and get the deck right up to the edges. Only issue was the ring on the rear latch sticks out a ways and would sometimes catch on things. Eventually got snatched off completely. Kept using the cover minus one latch. It saw many more hours before coming loose and getting sucked under the deck. Wedged the blades, stalled the engine. Restart, reverse, re-engage blades, spit it out remarkably intact. So impressed I bought it again. Keeping the old one for spare parts.
