Q&As

1 - 10 of 19 Questions

Q: Do both batteries need to be installed to run the mower? Or can it run on one battery alone while the other is charging?

1 Answer
  • Greenworks Tools
A: Hello! You do not need to install both batteries for this mower to operate. One fully charged Greenworks 60V battery will power the mower, allowing you to keep the second battery on the charger while you mow. When the battery in use needs recharging, simply turn the mower off, wait until it is completely stationary, and swap in the charged battery. You can also install both batteries to extend the available mowing time between charging breaks. Q: Can you use 8.0ah battery with this mower?

1 Answer
  • Greenworks Tools
A: Hi Mike, Yes, this mower is compatible with Greenworks 60V batteries, including higher-capacity options like an 8.0Ah battery, so you should have no issue using one with the unit. Many customers choose a larger Ah battery for extended runtime, especially when mowing larger yards or thicker grass conditions. Runtime can vary depending on grass height, terrain, self-propelled usage, and cutting conditions, but an 8.0Ah battery can help reduce the need for battery swaps during longer mowing sessions. This mower also features a brushless motor for strong cutting performance and quieter operation, along with self-propelled drive assistance to help make mowing more comfortable and efficient. If you have any additional questions about batteries, runtime, or setup, Greenworks Customer Support can be reached at 1-888-909-6757 or through Live Chat.

Q: If the answer to this question is no, I will likely still purchase this mower. You have done a great job of answering questions below. If the lawn is damp, or if you are away from house so do not care about mulching, can you disengage the mulching option?

Q: Can i use higher amperage batteries in this mower?

  • Greenworks Tools
A: Hi Johnboyw, Thank you for your question. Each voltage line (24V, 40V, 60V and 80V) has a set of tools that are only interchangeable within their own voltage platform. Only Greenworks batteries, chargers and machines of the same voltage are compatible and interchangeable with one another. **There are a few exceptions: Our 60V 8.0Ah battery model 2957102 cannot be used in the following tools: any 60V 12" Snow Shovel, any 60V 22" Snow Blower, any 60V Tiller/Cultivator, or any 60V machine that has a battery port door or lid. We hoped this helped!

Great Mower

I must admit I was a bit scared to make this purchase, but our Zero turn quit and our push mower quit just a week or so later. Anyway we purchased this Greenworks 25 in. 60V Brushless Cordless Battery Walk-Behind self-propelled mower. Oh my goodness. It is fantastic! By the time the batteries run down we are ready for a brake. It gives us time to recharge right along with the batteries. LOL It takes us several days to mow the yard NOT because of the batteries but because our yard is several acres! I love this mower and yes I would buy it again. Hopefully it will last a really long time.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are thrilled to hear that your Greenworks 60V 25" Self-Propelled Lawn Mower is starting up easily and delivering great cutting performance. We appreciate your honest note regarding the weight and resistance when pushing the unit without power; because self-propelled mowers feature integrated wheel-drive transmission gears, pushing them manually when the battery is depleted creates natural mechanical drag. To help maximize your runtime and make yard work as seamless as possible, here are a few quick tips to keep in mind: * Dual-Port Auto-Switching: Ensure both 4.0Ah batteries are fully charged and properly latched into both battery ports before mowing, as the system automatically switches from one battery to the other to extend your uninterrupted mowing time. * Managing Drag & Self-Propel Drive: When you reach the end of a pass or need to pull the mower backward, release the self-propel drive lever a second or two before stopping your forward motion, this allows the drive transmission gears to fully disengage, making turns and manual pulling much smoother. * Deck Height & Grass Conditions: Avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height at a time and mow when the lawn is dry. Cutting tall or damp grass places extra load on the motor, which drains batteries significantly faster. For helpful video walkthroughs, battery care guides, and mowing tips, feel free to visit the official Greenworks YouTube channel. If you have questions about runtime, picking up a secondary battery set, or need any product support down the road, please d not hesitate to reach out directly to our Greenworks Customer Success Team at 1-888-909-6757 or through our online support center, we are always happy to help!

Solid product

This is a great mower. I trashed my gas and wanted to go all electric. The 25' makes mowing quick, and it cuts close to edges, making weed trimming fast. I was so excited to get an electric mower so I could mow at night when it is cooler. This mower is quiet and has a nice LED light on it. It will not light up the yard, but will keep you from running into things. I love the way it folds up. I have an 8x5 shed in the backyard, and this mower folds up and fits in it perfectly. I live on a .25 of an acre, house lot, and the two batteries will mow my yard with no problem; in fact, I will use the same batteries for my weed trimmer and blower. Battery charging is quick. When I first got my mower, the batteries were dead. It took about 40 min to fully charge the two batteries.
