Great seed

Having used a few 100lbs of this seed and reading some of the negative reviews I decided to write one myself. This product works great if used with some common sense! First, DO NOT dump a bunch of lime, fertilizer and other chemicals without having the soil tested as you could make it worse. On the other hand if you have poor soil and even weeds won't grow how do you expect this seed to work? Second, just throwing the seed down without using straw or straw matting or at the LEAST actually break a sweat and rake it into the soil a little will almost never give good results. There is a reason that professional landscapers do this when contracted. Third, water is ESSENTIAL when trying to germinate ANY type or brand of grass seed. For the first week to 10 days it should be watered every night after the sun is no longer hitting the area of planting. Fourth, Once it starts to grow, do NOT mow it for at least 2 weeks!. Give the grass time to develop a root system and become established. When you do mow it for the first time, only take less than 1/3 of the total height off at a time and then wait 48 hours or more before you mow it again. Fifth, Please, please, please do not be dumb and scalp your lawn when cutting it. If you think that cutting it low will save you time because you have to cut it less? It may or may not be the case, BUT, all you are doing is harming the grass. Why would you spend all that time and $$ to just waste it. The taller the grass, the longer your root system is and the longer it takes until it goes dormant or yellow if you are effected by a period of drought. Like any plant it needs to photosynthesize and with out green surface area it can't! (Just cover your lawn with a tarp and let it die?) It also allows weeds to grow easier if it is short as the grass can not crowd out unwanted guests.

Most of the seed won’t take, even in the best soil

We’ve spread around 300 pounds of this seed over the past year and can honestly say less than 25% actually grows. We have incredible organic compost and topsoil mixture that grows anything it touches. I can only assume much of the seed is bad before it arrives. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Do not buy this product

I Last Fall, I overseeded half of my yard with this grass seed, today, I faced with a disaster. According to my professional Lawn Service provider, my lawn is infected with widespread fast growing coarse tufted tall fescue considered a weed. Their only offered solution is to completely kill all my lawn in that area. Add more topsoil and replant the entire area with new seed. It’s a disastrous expensive problem to correct. Stay away from this grass seed.
