Be warned

I bought this weed eater today. This is by far the worst product of Dewalt I have ever owned. In all honesty I have never reviewed any other product and I have 20 plus products I would rate 4 or 5 stars. I’m sorry I didn’t leave those positive reviews, but this product was so bad I felt like I should warn people. This string trimmer head is horrendous. I had the preloaded string that came with the product and had to take it apart multiple times because the string kept breaking off inside and binding up. Then I put new string in that was a bigger gauge, same thing it was breaking off inside. Then I go back to a smaller gauge still the same problem. To take the head off you have to “unlock,” seems straight forward yet such a pain, unlock and pull much harder than you’d think you would and have the line unspool. The reason I purchased this string trimmer was my old Dewalt trimmer, the 20v that could fold up, the motor seized up, fair enough I had it 4 or 5 years. The head on that was great pinch 2 tabs pull it off. I switch because I was told that model had issues and was the most frequently returned. Now I’m stuck with this trimmer that will most like be broken with in a month because I’m going to spike it like an NFL rookie scoring his first TD. I wanted the 60v but couldn’t justify 300+, I’m not sure if I saved money or caused this headache. (Bought at D&B supply)

No, I do not recommend this product.

Auto feed needs improvement

Battery power is great but the problem is with the string feed. At least twice while using it, I'll have to take the head apart and restring the spool because it doesn't automatically feed like it should.

Poor Design

Very disappointed in this trimmer. I spent more time having to detach and rewind the spool than what I did trimming. The head is a poor design with rough edges which breaks the string inside of the head. Previous Dewalt designs worked great. This one is garbage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not a good trimmer

The "engineers" at dewalt really struck out on this one. I have three major complaints with this trimmer. First, the handle position does not balance the trimmer, causing the operator to push down on the rear of the trimmer to balance it, even with a larger battery on the back, which causes significant fatigue. Secondly, this is the first trimmer I have used in 30 years that spins counter clockwise, relative to the operator, throwing all cut debris, rocks, etc., right into your legs and body, rather than throwing it away from you. Lastly, the automatic trimmer head will not feed. I have been a mechanic by trade, and am very mechanically inclined, and cannot get this to work. I have wasted more time trying to respool trimmer line, then would have taken to trim my half acre yard. I ended up replacing the head with a universal fixed string unit, and even without the automatic feed, is still faster than trying to get the dewalt head to feed. I have been a dewalt fan for a long time, but they have really struck out on this one, and I feel like I have really wasted my money.

No, I do not recommend this product.
