Turn up the heat in your garden-to-table meals with the fiery flavor of Bonnie Plants Chile de Arbol Heirloom Hot Pepper. The long, thin, bright-red peppers look pretty in the garden and taste great in your favorite recipes. Chile de Arbol is also known for brightening kitchen decor: it's often used in dried pepper strings known as ristras, because the peppers retain their gorgeous color even when dry. Originating in Chihuahua, Mexico, this heirloom pepper adds medium heat and smoky flavor to your favorite Mexican-inspired dishes. Use the peppers fresh in salsa, blend your own hot sauce, add to fajitas, or spice up simple slow-cooker chicken. The tall plants produce big yields until first frost. Add a cage to support the plant's prolific fruit. Plant in full sun after last spring frost, 18 to 24 inches apart. Plant reaches 3 to 4 feet tall and matures in 75 to 80 days. Be sure to water your plant when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, and feed it regularly with Miracle-Gro Plant Food. Bonnie Plants live plant varieties are designed for your gardening success, whether they're disease resistant, heat tolerant, space savers, or produce abundant harvests.

    A Happy Mistake

Last year I was buying shishitos and one of these plants was mislabeled and the tray. I only realized after it began fruiting that it was not the expected shishito. But it had a wonderful taste and heat (after it ripened). It was also very prolific up until the first freeze in late October. I picked them, dried them and ground them into a powder that I use on bringing the pain to everything from eggs to Thanksgiving turkey to chocolate ice cream (yes, try it!)

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Good pepper, average yield, mislabeled by nursery

I bought one of these chili plants at Lowe’s, thinking (it was tagged as) it was a Cayenne (Used this site to ID pepper correctly). The plant does want regular watering and fertilizer. The pepper production was later than my others I’m growing, quantity was average, flavor was very good, heat was as advertised. This summer was a bit cooler than normal for central Indiana, so production may have been stunted as a result.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I'm so sad that this one died nearly instantly as soon as we put it in the ground...... We have a huge garden with TONS of peppers, everything is doing amazing, and we've always loved Bonnie, but this guy just didn't make it for some reason..... :(

    Yes, I recommend this product.
