  • Woodstream Team
A: The American Farm Works 8-Light Electric Fence Voltage Tester is designed for temporary testing use to check fence voltage. It is not intended to be left on the fence continuously or exposed to the elements long-term. For best performance, use it to test the fence as needed and store it in a dry location when not in use.

Q: How would I know what the high voltage out put to line should be ? Isthmus output voltage anyway proportional to the chargers "joules" rating ? If my tester is measuring 600v -7kv...howdy I know ifmycharger is performing ?

1 Answer
  • Woodstream Team
A: The energizer's no load voltage will fluctuate +/- 20%. If all the lights on the tester are illuminated during a no load test, that is showing the energizer has a great output and is working correctly. Extremely dim indicator lights
Response from Woodstream Team:

Woodstream Team
We're sorry to hear the indicator lights are difficult to see. The brightness of the LEDs can vary depending on the fence voltage and ambient lighting, so the tester is easiest to read in shaded conditions. To verify the tester is working properly, try testing it on a fence with a known voltage and make sure the probe is inserted firmly into the ground while the tester tip makes good contact with the fence wire. If the lights still appear unusually dim under these conditions, the tester may not be functioning correctly. We'd like the opportunity to help determine the cause and get this resolved.

We’re sorry to hear the voltage tester did not meet your expectations. The indicator lights are designed to be more visible in lower light conditions, but we understand this can make readings difficult during daylight use. We appreciate your feedback and will share it with our team as we continue working to improve our products.
