Polyethylene Pipe
Polyethylene pipe is a modern piping solution widely appreciated for its durability, flexibility and corrosion resistance. Used across a variety of applications, including water supply, gas distribution, agriculture and construction, it offers a reliable alternative to traditional materials. Tractor Supply carries a range of sizes and pressure ratings to provide trusted piping for your specific use.
Built for Long Runs and Outdoor Conditions
Few pipe materials handle the demands of outdoor and buried water lines as well as polyethylene does. Polyethylene bends around uneven ground and holds up better than rigid alternatives through repeated freezing and thawing. It won't rust, and it resists the chemical buildup that can affect rigid metal pipe over time. The material's flexibility is a serious advantage on longer runs, allowing it to follow the shape of the ground without needing a fitting at every change in direction, which matters a lot for plumbing work. The interior of polyethylene pipe stays smooth over time, too, different from galvanized pipe, where rust and scale build up and eventually cut into flow.
Our selection includes options to meet a range of applications. From standard high-density polyethylene (HDPE) solutions to advanced materials, such as polyethylene of raised temperature resistance (PERT), our inventory is built for performance, dependability and long-term results. With multiple sizes, pressure ratings and configurations available, you are ready to take on residential, commercial and industrial work.
Pressure Ratings Available
PSI, which stands for pounds per square inch, is how polyethylene pipe is rated for the amount of water pressure it can handle. Low-demand setups, such as gravity-fed irrigation, a farm water system or a standard residential supply line, are good candidates for 100 PSI pipe. A well pump or pressurized water system pushes harder, so those applications call for 160 PSI pipe to handle the load without the pipe losing its shape.
Lengths, Diameters and What They Mean
An undersized water line at the outlet will drop pressure, and the pipe diameter is usually where the problem starts. For single-fixture lines and shorter runs, 3/4-in. pipe does the job. Main supply lines and systems pulling water to more than one outlet need 1-in. or 1-1/4-in. pipe to move enough volume without pressure loss. Coil lengths of 100 ft. cover most single runs cleanly. Getting the diameter right also determines how the pipe seats against valves and fittings, since a mismatch there can affect the entire line, which is exactly what you don’t want.
Find Polyethylene Pipe at Tractor Supply
Ground movement, hard winters and years of outdoor exposure are where rigid pipe tends to give out. Polyethylene pipe handles all three conditions without corroding, cracking or building up scale inside the line. Length can be modified on site with plumbing cutting tools, and the coil format means less material is wasted on shorter runs, as it can move with twists and turns.
