It took me quite awhile to order this feeder. I saw good reviews on the Tarter heavy bull feeder but couldn't find any on this one. The fact that TSC charged for shipping even if it was shipped to store ran the cost up well beyond what's paid in the midwest. This made my decision even harder. After looking at what was available here in the area, which was light junk that I didn't believe would last, and after trying to find a better Tarter vendor I was running out of time and ordered this feeder. It was banged up some from being shipped and the paint was scraped off in numerous places. Since I paid extra for it I wasn't happy with that, but that's what happens when things are shipped. The plastic covers they put over the bolts to keep them from rusting, served only to hold water and rust the bolts. I'll come back and edit this review in a few months after I see how it stands up, that is if TSC approves it and leaves it on their site.

Why paint the darn thing when it flakes off reveal

Why paint the darn thing when it flakes off revealing all the rust and corrosion underneath. I spent an entire day with a hd angle grinder wire brush knocking the flakey paint and rust off. With a bad back i really paid for it. Never again.

Heavy hay ring prevents cattle from flipping it or shoveling it around. The bottom sheet metal hay saver should have more welds.

Well-built feeder. The skirt is essential for reducing waste. The product was well packaged and delivered with minimal scratches. There were a few scratches, but nothing too serious. Assembly was easy with supplied hardware. I'm hoping for years of use with this item.
