The Stirling 4'x4' kit trailer is a perfect solution for the customer who wants to build their own trailer so they can easily customize it to suit their needs. This kit comes with everything you'll need to be on the road, including an axle, frame, tires, fender, lights, wiring, and Certificate of Origin document to register. For increased bearing protection and ease of maintenance, we've included EZ Lube hubs. Our V-tongue will provide you with more stability while travelling. When combined with our Premium Galvalume finish, you can be assured that you are getting the best value and performance possible. After assembling the trailer frame, you can customize it to suit a variety of needs, whether it is as a flatbed, closed box trailer, or regular tailgate trailer (material not included). Basic tools are required for assembly.

- A: Hi there BLB47, No, swapping out the axle alone does not increase the trailer's payload capacity. The payload rating is determined by both the axle and the frame strength. The frame on a 4x4 Stirling utility trailer is not designed to carry more than its original rated capacity. Adding a heavier-duty axle does not mean the frame can safely handle an additional 2000 lbs, and doing so could result in structural damage or unsafe towing conditions. ~~ Westbrook Trailers Team8 months agoHelpful?

Good trailer. Terrible instructions

The trailer itself is exactly what I asked for. Small, lightweight, generally easy to assemble. No complaints.
The assembly instructions, on the other hand should simply be used as kindling. Images are sometimes unclear, steps are alluded to and never returned to, other steps simply missing. And steps that are seriously out of sequence. I had to disassemble the trailer 3 times ( in whole or in part ) to recover from missing or out of sequence steps.
You would do better to just lay the parts out and puzzle it out yourself.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This trailer is well designed and solid. Components are good quality and more heavy duty than I expected. Kit went together easily. It took about 4 hours for me to assemble by myself.

Good Little Versatile Trailer

Previous reviews said it right. The edges are sharp, and assembly takes a little longer than expected. You will have to replace the lights at some point. I did a lot of research on trailer kits before this purchase. Other kits were only rated to 45 MPH. Steel kits had poor paint jobs and chipping at the corners. Aluminum kits did not have stake pockets and aren't as tough. I thought this kit had a good finish and was a good compromise between the corrosion resistance of aluminum and the durability of steel. Expect to pay $100 for wood to build a base & sides. Two 8' by 4' plywood sheets and two 12' 2 by 4's. I went 32" sides (8' divided by 3). Should be a good a little trailer for hauling lake weeds and leaves to the dump.
