Easier and safer to use than pellets

Great forage to keep weight on without sugars. Horses love it. Extensive soaking not necessary. I just add enough water to make it soupy initially, the shreds absorb water and expand. Do not feed dry.

Plastic bag has weird smell

Standlee has begun packaging this product in a sealed plastic bag. When you open the bag the product has a very strong chemical odor. My horses (who used to love this stuff) refuse to eat it. I hoped the odor would disperse once I removed the beet pulp from the bag, but it is, it continues to linger. I don't know if the problem is the new plastic bag, or there is something contaminating the beet pulp.

Don't Soften--Can't Feed to My Senior Horse

I purchased the shreds for the first time this week. The "shreds" never get soft (I tried soaking them in extremely hot water after the first batch in lukewarm water did nothing, and they still didn't get soft). I can never use them for their intended purpose--my 29 y/o gelding who needs soft food. Unfortunately, I threw the entire bag away. This was a total miss.

No, I do not recommend this product.
