1 Answer
  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: Great question! Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint does not require a hardener, and we do not recommend using one. If applying with a paint sprayer, mineral spirits can be used to thin it as needed. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15

Q: how do yu need to prep the surface before spraying it on metal

1 Answer
  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: Happy to help! Before applying Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint to metal, make sure to thoroughly clean the surface with a good degreasing cleaner, then rinse and let dry. Scrape or wire brush the surface to remove any loose or flaking rust or previous paint. Once the surface is prepped, prime the metal with Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Gray Primer, followed by 2 coats of the paint. Allow 24 hours between coats. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15

Q: Does this paint need a rimer

1 Answer
  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: This is a great question! A primer is not needed if the metal or previous coat is in good, sound condition. However, if the surface has rust, we recommend priming the surface before applying Rust-Oleum Specialty Farms and Implement Paint for be adhesion results. Also ensure any loose or flaking rust is removed. The primer we can recommend using is Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Red Oxide Metal Primer. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/rust-oleum-specialty-farm-implement-red-oxide-metal-primer-1-gal-1082773 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 10

Great undercoating

I was alittle worried, it wasn’t gonna stick or look good. I put it in a sprayer I had and it dries fast, and looks great! I’ll definitely be buying more.

Super hard paint that looks great!

This paint is great. I used it to repaint a flat bed on an old truck that I bought. The paint was soft for around a week and had me pretty worried, but now it's hard as a rock and looks great. I will be buying more to paint my trailer next. Definitely recommend, just leave plenty of time to cure.

Covers nicely

I bought this to paint an old horse trailer we bought. It covers nicely and sticks well. It is hard to wash off so wear gloves. Also it can become sticky quickly so keep it covered and keep it moving. It does have a strong odor so have ventilation while using. The color is a beautiful glossy black.
