Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fighting River Rats I will never be without Ramik again to control the river rats in my area. I got a flock of chickens about 18 mos ago, in the last two months I noticed my birds acting like they are starved and their feed bucket was emptying way too fast! My feed bill was climbing but I wasn't getting any more eggs, my girls weren't happy chickens. One night I came in kind of late and went to check on my flock and saw a rat come out of the feed bucket and shimmy up the coop and across the roof to disappear! I got all of the Ramik I had on hand and put it out near the trash bin outside. The next morning it was gone. When I went to TSC and got more, I put out six different piles in my back yard with four of those surrounding my chickens. Each day I could see the piles getting smaller! Within 3days, it was all gone and I don't have disappearing feed now. I live alone so inside my house has lots of poison piles in prominent hiding places for rats bc I had been hearing those fat butt river rats tromping through my house at odd hours. I havent seen any more evidence or heard them inside and the poison remains in place. I have put more outside and 90% remains as well! I used the entire 4# bag when I put it out in war against theiving rats eating all my feed! My chickens lay almost a dozen eggs per day now compared to four eggs previously. Ramik will always be my top choice! IF I am unfortunate and find a dead rat, he is always just a pile of bones and fur. I can deal with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They love it I’ve been using it a while. Have only found one dead rat, but I read that they usually die in their tunnels out of sight. I like this stuff because it can be reversed/treated if my dog does get it. I use the large TomCat bait box without any issues though. The rats seem to like it, it is being eaten up. I never had much luck with Tomcat brand bait squares. I have not had any luck with mice eating this stuff, they seemed to prefer grain, but I am able to trap them. I have not ever trapped a rat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! Set the bait out in 2 places and the rats gobbled it up immediately.

Is there a secondary poisoning for this product. I would bait my crawlspace which my dogs can't get to, but was curious if there was a secondary poisoning with this product?

Asked by: jphelps747
There is a low risk of secondary poisoning when using any First Generation Rodenticide- Ramik falls under this class since its active ingredient is Diphacinone. You would be reducing the potential for this by using the product in a crawl space (using a solid wall or floor space to separate the bait from the non-target animal). In addition to this, please dispose of all deceased rodents so that the dog cannot consume them. Always keep the original packaging from the bait, in the event there was an exposure your veterinarian will be able to gather necessary information from the packaging.

I have 1 rat that has eaten over 25 of these pellets and continues every night to eat more. How long will it take to kill this 1 rat???

Asked by: kpony
Maintain an uninterrupted supply of fresh bait for at least 10 days or until there no longer are signs of new feeding by rats. Death may occur as early as 4-5 days after a lethal dose is consumed.

If my dogs get hold of a rat that is dying from this product can it harm my dog?

Asked by: MamaH
Potentially, that could be a scenario that would be harmful to the pet depending on if they ingest any part of the animal. To be on the safe side, we would definitely advise you to consult a veterinarian or call the hotline on the bag should your pet come in contact with any rat or mouse that could have come into contact with this product.

We have a remote cabin and the pack rats love our shop. We set traps when we are there and have good success. But during the winter months when we are not there we need control without having them die in the shop. Are they most likely to go elsewhere?

Asked by: Thatcher
With Ramik or any rodenticide on the market there is no way to ensure where the animals will die. As the animal starts the dying process they typically retreat back to their nest or a dark place. This could be anywhere.
