Tomcat with Bromethalin Meal Bait contains the premium active ingredient Bromethalin, excellent for proven control of high rodent populations and severe infestations. Bromethalin is an acute, non-anticoagulant active that will begin to kill rats & mice in 2 or more days, faster than anticoagulant baits. Due to a quick knockdown when compared to anticoagulants, more rodents can be controlled with less bait. Tomcat with Bromethalin Bait is an exclusive oat & grain formula designed for maximum palatability and is ideal for use when competing food sources are available. Meal Bait is a versatile enough for many uses, and is labeled for applications in rat burrows beyond 100 ft of buildings.

For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

  • Premium active - Excellent for knockdown of rodent populations or severe infestations
  • Proven combination of palatability and effective control
  • Rodent meal bait kills by affecting the rodents' nervous system - Bromethalin is an ATP Inhibitor, which prevents the transfer of energy across nerve cells
  • Kills rats and mice in 2 or more days after consuming a lethal dose
  • Rodents will cease feeding after consuming a lethal dose, requiring less bait to be used compared with other anticoagulant baits
  • Exclusive oat/grain formula designed for maximum rodent acceptance
  • Rodent meal bait is versatile enough for many uses, and is labeled for applications in rat burrows beyond 100 ft of buildings
  • Excellent for clean out, indoor baiting (when animals aren't present), or burrow baiting, including rat burrows beyond 100 ft of buildings

Q: Can this product be used on prairie dogs?

1 Answer
  • Product Manager - Ag
A: This product is only approved to control the species listed on the label (norway rats, roof rats, house mice, meadow voles and a few other listed species). We haven't tested it on prairie dogs or any other "non-target" animals and can't legally recommend for use outside of the specific species listed on the label.

Q: Will it dry up the carcass if used indoors

1 Answer
  • Product Manager - Ag
A: Tomcat Bromethalin Meal Bait does not dry out the carcass. The natural effects of postmortem desiccation will. The speed at which this occurs is dependent on the environment that is in.

Q: Is it safe around my chickens? What about wild birds that eat the rodents?

1 Answer
  • Product Manager - Ag
A: Unfortunately there is limited scientific data available regarding "secondary poisoning" of a predatory animal (such as a Chicken) consuming a rat that died from poison. However, Bromethalin is a different mode of action than many traditional rodenticides - it is an acute active ingredient, so rats & mice do not have to eat as much bait and will have less poison in them when they die.

A: Tomcat Bromethalin Meal Bait is labeled for use in & around homes, as long as it is within 100 feet of the man-made structure. Bait Stations are mandatory for outdoor, above-ground use. Follow application directions from the product label while baiting.

Q: If my dog happens to eat a mouse that has died due to it eating ghe meal bait will it harm him?

2 Answers
  • Product Manager - Ag
A: While secondary toxicity from bromethalin is theoretically possible, experimental laboratory studies have not clearly demonstrated it. You can reduce the risk of potential secondary poisoning by following label instructions and placement amounts and monitoring the property for carcasses daily and discarding them promptly. Other strategies to reduce risk include providing extra supervision for pets or companion animals, restricting them from the area, or considering temporary relocation of livestock during the rodent control effort.

Q: What’s happens if a chicken gets a little bit

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Bromethalin is highly toxic to birds and other non-target animals. Even a small amount can be dangerous or fatal to a chicken. If ingestion occurs, remove access immediately and contact a veterinarian.

six bottles empty and voles are still around

I gave it a try and bought a bottle for an infestation. Saw a few dead voles a few days later. But the holes and trails persist in the yard. Up to date of this writing, I have bought 6 bottles of this expensive stuff and the voles just keeps eating it all and digging more holes and ruining the yard. This stuff seems to work at first but really doesn't work at all as voles gain quick tolerance.

No, I do not recommend this product.
