Is this item perishable?

Asked by: Joshhyy
It is perishable. We give out suggested shelf life guidelines and do not have expiration dates on the Purina bagged products. The stamped date code along the bottom will be a date of production. It will be in the following order of Year/Month/Day/Plant/Shift. An example would look like 7DEC18HAR2. This would have been manufactured on December 18, 2017 in Harrisburg, PA during the second shift. Generally, the sweet, textured products will have a shorter shelf life than the pelleted products. A sweet feed (corn included in this) may last for up to 3 months or longer. A pellet or crumble product may last for up to 6 months or longer. Exceptions to this would be the Mazuri branded bagged products and the AquaMax fish diets which have a shelf life of 12 months. Length of shelf life depends on the conditions of storage after the product is manufactured. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity will be the best storage conditions. The product should be free of mold and insects, it should have a nice aroma and it should also be palatable to the animal. If you find the product not suitable at time of purchase, we suggest you take advantage of our 100% satisfaction guarantee and return it in the original bag to your local TSC for an exchange or refund.
