Pecans do not bear nuts until they are between 6-10 years old as a general rule, so it takes longer than say an apple tree but they are worth the wait. It is important to know, with pecans you need a compatible co-pollinator. Please refer to a co-pollinator chart that identifies a "Type 1" and a "Type 2" compatible trees (has to do with being pollen receptive and pollen shedding) for your pecans to thrive. In addition to co-pollination requirements be sure to ensure they have adequate space as they grow very large (up to 70′ tall and 50′ wide), and ensure the planting site is well-draining.
