Q: Is pyrus callerana still legal to sell in SC?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. This ban prevents purchasing pyrus calleryana online or in-person from nurseries located in South Carolina. However, you can legally purchase Pyrus calleryana trees online from nurseries located outside South Carolina and have them shipped to your address within the state. It's important to note that while the sale is banned, the possession of these trees is not illegal.

Purchase of a Cleveland Pear Tree

I bought 2 Cleveland Pear Trees from Tractor Supply on Dixie Hwy. in Louisville, Ky. I live in Mt. Washington, Ky. and our Tractor Supply did not have the item. I was hoping to get 2 of them transferred to the Mt. Washington store, but they told me that would not be possible. I also saw on Tractor Supply's Website that a purchase over something like $75 got you free delivery, but even though my purchase came to over $80 I was told delivery would cost me $70. The trees I purchased were healthy & are doing well since planting.
