Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick easy setup I bought this for our GSD and it didn't take long at all for him to learn the beeping perimeters at all. It used a series of shocks if he went beyond that. All he needed to hear was the warning beep and he turned around. Easy to extend the area too. He would sit at the edge and wait for us to come back in. We have 50 acres and really didn't want to put a fence up. It was the best investment ever. Now we cam let him out potty and he stays right in the yard. I have recommended this to numerous friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great replacement My transmitter quit, I still had the receivers and only needed to replace this piece. Thanks for having just the transmitter so I didn't have to purchase another complete unit.

Would this fence be good for a Great Dane? We had the in-ground fence and it never seemed strong enough to keep him in the yard/

Asked by: Angel2tsg
Thanks for your question! This is a listing for an additional transmitter (without collar) that can be used with the Wireless Pet Containment System PIF-300. Many customers have successfully used the PIF-300 system with Great Danes. This strap can fit neck sizes up to 29 inches, so you may need to purchase an additional strap to add length. If you feel that your dog may be particularly stubborn or need a stronger correction, then the Stubborn Dog Stay+Play® Wireless Fence Receiver PIF00-13672 may suit your needs better. We hope this helps!

Will this work for a cat collar?

Asked by: Sandysue101
Hi SandySue, great question! This listing is for the IF-100 Wireless Transmitter alone and does not have a collar included. For smaller pets like cats, we would recommend either our PIF00-15001 Free To Roam Wireless Fence or our PIF00-12917 Stay + Play Wireless Fence which will be equipped with a collar for pets 5lbs and up.

If I want to cover a rectangular area that is approx 200'wide x 600'deep how many transmitters would that require? And would they need to be housed in separate areas throughout the property or can they all be placed in one place (inside of the house for e

Asked by: Lorif
Thank you for your question! Each transmitter would create a circular boundary area that has an adjustable radius of between 5'-90'. Up to 3 transmitters can be used together to increase the size of this boundary by setting them up in a way that their boundary signal areas overlap one another by at least 10', enabling the collar or collars to pass between the transmitter's signal areas without activating. Each transmitter must be installed indoors in a dry, well-ventilated area that does not drop below freezing temperatures. Sadly, it would likely require more than 3 transmitter units in order to cover an area that is 200' x 600'.

Can this be used alone or only as an add on. I do not have a petsafe fence currently. I like the wireless feature.

Asked by: Maria c
That's an excellent question, Maria! This transmitter is meant to be added to an existing wireless fence kit, to expand the overall boundary area. The transmitter would need to be used with a compatible receiver collar to be effective.

Can the area be adjusted smaller say a quarter acre?

Asked by: Dewwop
Good question! You can indeed adjust the size of the boundary by using a dial on the transmitter unit. It can be adjusted from the maximum radius of 90' down to a minimum of approximately 10-15', so you may fine-tune it to the size of your yard in particular. Please keep in mind, however, that while the circular boundary's size can be adjusted, its shape cannot; it will always be a circular boundary.

Will transmitter work thru a metal building?

Asked by: Dakamp
Hi there, great question! The transmitter will not work properly when housed within a metal building, as this can cause signal amplification and inconsistencies within the containment area. For setup and product assistance, please reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677.

What happens if the dog runs out of the fencing area? Does it repeatedly shock them or just do nothing?

Asked by: Bmf1329
Great question! The Wireless collar will deliver stimulation when the dog exits the containment area, and will timeout in approximately 15-20 seconds depending on the collar. Once the dog is out, the collar will stay in time-out mode until the pup returns into the yard. When they are about 10 feet into the boundary zone, the collar resets and reconnects with the transmitter. Training is extremely important and the manual includes a full training guide.
