Q: By saying, once daily dewormer mixed with horse’s grain, do you mean every day or one again in 6 weeks?
27 days ago- A: Hi Ranger! This is a one-day treatment, not a daily supplement. You should feed the proper dose for just one day, though regular deworming at intervals of 6 to 8 weeks may be required due to the possibility of reinfection.24 days agoHelpful?
Q: Can safeguard cattle wormer be used for horses
4 months ago- A: Yes, many Safe-Guard products containing the active ingredient fenbendazole are labeled for use in both cattle and horses. It is crucial to verify that the specific product explicitly lists "horses" on the label to ensure correct and safe dosing. Always follow the administration instructions precisely and consult a veterinarian for advice on the best deworming program for your animals.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: The recommended dosage is 1 pound of Safe-Guard per 1000 pounds of body weight. A 1.25lb bag is sufficient for a single treatment for a 1250-pound horse, making it enough for a 1000-pound horse for one day with a quarter of a pound (or 4oz) left over.
11 months ago- A: Thanks for your question. Yes, there would be some left over for a 1000lb horse. Here's some information on feeding rates, depending which worms you are treating. To treat & control large strongyles, small strongyles, and pinworms the rate would be 5 mg fenbendazole per kg body weight (2.27 mg per pound): For a ONE (1) DAY treatment, add SAFE-GUARD Equi-bits Top Dress Pellets to the daily ration at the rate of 1.0 pound for each 1,000 pounds body weight. A 1.25-lb container will treat 1250 lb body weight. For the control of ascarids the rate would be 10 mg fenbendazole per kg body weight (4.54 mg per pound): For a ONE (1) DAY treatment, add SAFE-GUARD Equi-bits Top Dress Pellets to the daily ration at the rate of 1.0 pound for each 500 pounds body weight. A 1.25-lb container will treat 625 lb body weight. Check out the SAFE-GUARD EQUI-BITS website here: https://www.merck-animal-health-usa.com/species/equine/products/safe-guard-fenbendazole-equi-bits. Q: Can we use for standard and mammoth donkeys
11 months ago- A: Thanks for your question. Our Technical Services department has shared that all efficacy and safety studies are performed on horses, and we really do not have specific information or labeling for donkeys. However, it is accepted standard of practice to take the information available for horses and apply to these animals. Fortunately, fenbendazole, the active ingredient in Safe-Guard, has a very high safety index in multiple species. We have not had any reports of adverse effects reported to us nor are we aware of any known or suspected lack of effectiveness or adverse effects in donkeys. If you have any questions, please speak to your veterinarian. Thank you, Merck Animal Health. "11 months agoHelpful?

Q: So if for example my mare weighs nearly 900lbs how much of this do I give her or mix in her feed?
a year ago- A: Thanks for your question on Safe-Guard Equi-Bits. Type C feed is to be fed at the rate of 0.1 or 0.2 pounds per 100 pounds of body weight to provide 2.27 or 4.54 mg fenbendazole per pound of body weight. For the control of large strongyles, small strongyles, and pinworms the recommended dose is 5 mg fenbendazole per kg body weight (2.27 mg fenbendazole per pound) in a ONE (1) DAY treatment. For the control of ascarids the recommended dose is 10 mg fenbendazole per kg body weight (4.54 mg fenbendazole per pound) in a ONE (1) DAY treatment. So for a 1,000 lb mare, you would add this Safe-Guard Equi-Bits Type C Medicated Feed to daily ration at the rate of 1.0 lb. for each 1,000 lbs. of body weight....you would use 1lb of the 1.25lb bag. All horses must be eating normally to ensure that each animal consumes an adequate amount of medicated feed. Do not underdose. Ensure each animal receives a complete dose based on a current body weight. Underdosing may result in ineffective treatment and encourage the development of parasite resistance.a year agoHelpful?
