A: Hi Neighbor! Yes, in most cases, you can use enamel spray paint over brush-on paint. However, for best results, proper surface preparation and, in some cases, priming may be necessary.

A: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of all dirt, oil, grease, wax, or other surface contaminants that may inhibit the adhesion of Majic Tractor & Implement Spray Enamel. Detergent wash surface, using a phosphate free detergent & water solution, to remove dust, dirt, chalk, etc. – then rinse with clean water. Oil, wax, & grease may be removed by solvent wiping surface with mineral spirits. Scrape or wire brush surface to remove any loose, or peeling paint – then sand the blunt edges of remaining paint flush to the substrate. Wire brush rusted areas to remove loose, scaling rust – sand to clean, shiny metal. All bare ferrous metal should be primed with Majic Tractor & Implement Rust Inhibiting Primer, and allowed to dry. Once dry, allow primer to dry 24 hours before applying Majic T&I Black Spray Enamel. Apply Majic T&I Gloss Black in thin coats, and allow 24 hours dry time between coats.
