The G0796 9" x 49" Vertical Mill with power feed and DRO is a full featured mill built for those that only have single-phase power. This machine has a 2-axis DRO to ensure exact table position at all times. With the 9" x 49" table, you can set up a rotary table or another fixture on one side without having to remove your vise on the other. Additionally, the table has a built-in longitudinal power feed! The bed of the lathe is constructed with Meehanite castings that are hardened and precision-ground in the traditional three V-way prismatic design. The one-shot pump action lubricates the X-, Y- and Z-axis table ways. The halogen work light provides direct light on your workpiece for improved visibility.

First mill ever used or purchased.

Machine arrived about 3 weeks sooner than expected, meaning it was ordered on a Saturday from WA and it arrived the following Saturday in western CO. Had to rent a skid-steer to unload it and set in my garage/shop. Had to wait 2 weeks for the electrician to get me power to the shop (he ran a few extra power outlets for lathes, drills, etc.) busy guy but cut me a great deal on sub-panel and installation. Powered it up for a quick listen and function check then began quill run-in procedure. Stepped it up from low-low speed to high-high speed, 5 minutes forward and 5 minutes reverse in each speed. Add that up and ~80 minutes later I was ready for set up. Motor and head assembly warmed up some but nothing out of the norm for running a motor over an hour. I own a combo-machine and working with it's limitations is a tricky balance between "that's pretty dang good" and "I think that'll work." The 0796 is surprisingly quiet and obviously much more rigid than a combo-machine. Initial thoughts, impressions and the little tinkering I've done are very encouraging. I don't think I could expect any different from a "big name" machine. If this machine functions like it currently does for the next couple years it will surely pay for itself, and I foresee it most likely outlasting me. Eventually a slotting/shaping attachment and horizontal milling attachment will be added. As is this machine is more than adequate for my current gun shop needs.

First machine damaged in shipment so Grizzly shipped replacement. Great customer service. Machine performs as expected, precise, runs smoothly. Anyone looking for a new machine of this capability should seriously consider this machine.
