US Stove Wood Stove, 900 sq. ft Small Cast Iron, EPA Certified, 1269E is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute Junk The cast on the stove sleeve was too rough and didn't fit the chamber. The front door leaks smoke. The design doesn't allow for proper draft. The damper has just a knob. How do they expect people to turn it with no handle? It smoked out my entire cabin. I called two of my neighbor over with lifetime experience with wood stoves and they also couldn't figure out why it wasn't drawing properly. Poor design and a waste of time and money. If they don't let me return it I'm literally going to wheel it in to the TSC store and upload it by the sales kiosk to let them deal with taking it to the dump.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Takes too long to get a fire going, smokes you out, poor design with the wool inside,

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hope it gets better Take the insulation out in the top of the stove as part of your assembly process. If you don’t, you will after trying to fire it. Oxygen was so restricted I couldn’t burn newspaper. It would go out and wouldn’t even relight until the door let more oxygen back in. Remove the two pins that restrict the flu dampener as well. Just trying to save you the trouble of tearing it apart as I had to do.

Is the damper meant to be a usable damper or is it supposed to be locked into position. Does the stove require another more user friendly damper installed higher up in the pipe also?

Asked by: Dar007

What type of sand do you use for bottom? How much?

Asked by: jumping joe
Any type of sand will work for lining the bottom. The amount will differ but we suggest using enough to cover the bottom of the stove at least 1-2" completely.

can I set this back in a fireplace. can I just add 1 pipe up thru the opening in the chimney? i need to heat a basement for about 5 hours a day and i have a fireplace there and want to set this on the hearth and back in the fireplace. would that work?

Asked by: marmee
This is not recommended as a fireplace unit, however, as long as clearances to combustibles are met there is not any reasons you couldnt do this. you must use 6 in pipe or liner the entire length of the chimney and must abide by the 3,2,10 rule once it terminates. Always check with your local codes to make sure whatever you are wanting to do is within regulations in your area.

Can pellet fuel be used in this stove?

Asked by: Jeanie5150
This is a logwood only burning stove. We have never tested pellets in this model so i can't recommend burning pellets in it.
