- A: I too have tried the name brands found at most big box stores and had terrible luck with them. I tried the Greenview and it did well but I took the advice of some grader friends and went to the ag store and bought the no name grass seed mix and fertilizer they suggested and had the best luck. Soil conditions are the main culprit and most county's have an extension service that can help with finding the right fertilizers and additives to get your grass to grow in your area. Coastal southern N.C. is probably going to be sandy soils over very poor draining soils so you'll want to discuss with those who are educated with grasses and soils but who have no monetary interest in your situation such as an ag agent.5 years agoHelpful?

- A: It is too soon to know foe sure but we live in Pennsylvania and were late getting the area ready for planting. 5his is the first time not using straw and trying the seed starter. The grass is almost an inch high after 12 days and appears to work in the sun and under the trees. I will update after a couple more weeks.5 years agoHelpful?

I've long since thrown my bag away to specifically answer your question but compared to the numerous other brands I've bought over the past year this has been, by far, the best grass seed. We have been having problems with raccoons 'rolling back' our grass to get at grubs. I read where Tall Fescue grass has plenty deep roots which helps tons to not get the grass killed. I have used this grass now for a year (re-ordered once I saw how well it grows) and I simply LOVE this grass seed. For me: I like it when the little birds come into my back yard and eat some of the grass seed: it is important to me (both in handling the product and for outdoor life) that is is NOT dyed green. This is real, honest, outstanding grass seed. HEALTHY ! (for me, the birds, and the planet) So: I am writing in to say: definitely buy this grass. Easy to grow, truly natural grass seed, and nice deep roots....beautiful dark green color. Strong grass when mature. Thanks for such a great product !

It Works Fine

I bought 40 lbs of another brand which failed to germinate. So I started reading reviews and came upon Greenview Tall Fescue. The following year I planted a large patch, one side to the old seed, and once side to Greenview. The same results for the old seed, and a high germination rate for Greenview. I have hard clay soil. This will be my go to seed from now on.
