UP Mich food plot plow

Okay so if you’re like me you have researched every ATV disc plow or harrow or cultivator out there to get the most bang for your buck. Well this thing made me stand back and say wow it actually works !! Couple quick notes: 1) it rained for a few days prior to me plowing which was just luck but not sure it really mattered 2) I was turning over low grass/ferns not knee high sage brush or grass that should have been mowed down first 3) Slower with heavy weight at first was better to run over vegetation then you could drive faster I used this and some chain link fence to make a food plot of buckoats clover winter peas and winter rye and it was great for “cultipacking” or burying my seeds after I spread them with a bag seeder.... only time will tell if I did it right but for the money this thing handed out a rippin and tore up the earth really nicely while chopping up vegetation with the sharp slotted discs

Not useable in the south.

If you live in the south with clay do not buy this. I strapped 6 concrete blocks onto this and made about 20 passes and it barely knocked down the dead grass. I can’t see how this works well for anyone.

Form Doesn't Meet Function on this Design

For $900 (including the NEEDED wheel kit), this product doesn't perform as expected. Assembly was intuitive, and went smoothly. Seems to be built very well, and is sturdy, but....... I needed to wait for my plots to dry out after a very wet spring, so I am now just getting a chance to use this. I set up the disc's at maximum angle for maximum effectiveness, started with no additional weight. Immediately the harrow had a bad tendency to want to "walk", even at very low speed (1-2 mph). So I kept adding weight (up to ~150lbs), and changing the angle of the disc's. only running the disc's strait eliminated the walking. I even tried shifting the cement blocks and rock weights to see if there was an odd balance issue......no deal. Very annoying to say the least. And this is why I purchased this particular implement, it was wide, so as to avoid any high center of gravity issues with some of the other disc harrows out on the market.

Pleasantly surprised

I was able to assemble by myself fairly quickly, but it is a heavy piece of equipment. Tested it this past weekend on food plots that we have not turned over in 2 years and it worked great. 1st pass around I ran the disc straight just to cut top soil, then moved to 2nd pitch angle and made 1 pass, then set to 3rd pitch and it really turned up the soil. I only had 2 4x8x16 solid blocks for weight. It does take some time to do an acre plot but it works great.
