Item Information

The ATV 4 ft. x 4 ft. Chain Harrow is ideal for horse owners and hobby farms. Tow the 4 ft. x 4 ft. harrow with 1/2 in. tines behind an ATV or tractor to break up and level heavy soil, scatter manure droppings or aerate and dethatch pastures and lawns.

  • Only requires 2 HP per foot of width
  • Pull forward for deep penetration, back for light, turn over to drag
  • Stand matted grass up to stimulate rapid green-up
  • Shred dry leaves
  • Loosen and smooth paths and driveways
  • Fluff, dry and level tracks, ball diamonds, etc.
  • Prepare nicer seed beds; work in fertilizer and seed
  • Unique construction allows tines to follow every contour of your ground for maximum coverage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Much better than the boxspring with cinder blocks on top! Used a quad to drag this around approximately 1/2 acre of uneven clumpy topsoil and it broke up clumps and smoothed ground in about two hours. Now, if it soule just pick up rocks as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty and great for... Perfect for breaking up hard dirt on the baseball field after 3 months of summer inactivity. Even pulled it behind my 48 volt electric golf cart just fine!

In question #2 it was asked if this will work on gravel driveways and you replied "no." However, in the details section of your web page for this item, it advertises that this can be used to "Loosen and smooth paths and driveways." Please explain.

Asked by: DJSco
If the entire driveway is packed down with gravel, using this harrow will likely damage the unit or the vehicle. However, if the driveway is a dirt and lose gravel mix, yes, it will help to smooth the driveway out.

What product would you recommend for smoothing out 3/4 in crushed river rock for driveway use?

Asked by: Chillman
A drag harrow will be inefficient and will either get damaged or will displace the rock. If you have the convenience of a tractor with a 3-point hitch, we recommend using a 3-point hitch roller to smooth/even out the rock.

Could you pull this behind a riding lawnmower. Says only 2HP per foot, right....so the smallest one should work?

Asked by: kim1566
This is for use with ATVs and Tractors. It does require 2HP per foot of width, a total of 8HP. If yout lawn tractor meets those requirements then, yes it should work. However, we recommend supplying more than just 8HP otherwise you will wear out your engine.

I have a 4x4 harrow now. I am told I can attach another behind this one. Would I remove the bar from the second one?

Asked by: Rebel Rider
Yes. A additional one can be attached, the bar does not have to be removed for the attachment to be placed.

How effective is it in leveling an established lawn? To do so would it need to be weighed down or could it could it even function with weights? I own a 27hp yard tractor.

Asked by: Charb1
I should be sufficient in tearing the lawn up. No added weight needed.

Need to dethatch yard....about 1 1/2 acres. Will the Harrow work for that and not tear up the yard too much. Decent grass etc. and just need to thatch. Also, how can this be used in a garden? I see on your site you have this at the Elkin, NC store.

Asked by: Slats
The harrow will likely tear your yard up. It will likely do the same to anything planted in the garden.
