The Farm Innovators 125W Heated Base Coop Heater is a chicken heating pad for metal poultry waterers. This chicken coop warmer prevents water from freezing in temperatures as low as 10 deg. F. The bird warmer is thermostatically controlled to operate only when necessary. It's designed for use with double wall metal founts. The coop heater also works well outdoors in dry and covered area.

Great when they work but they don't last long

I have owned a total of three of these units; two have failed within 3 months. They are used under a covered run, on top of a piece of slate, so just like as if they are inside. The problem is that these develop a short and thus trip the GFCI outlet. I don't recommend them.

I asked if this could be used with Tractor Supply's heavy-duty 5-gallon hard plastic waterer. I was told yes. However, the instructions said different. So, I made a simple 'trivet' frame using 1x2 wood slatting. The square frame and inside cross slats assured it would sit, once placed on top of the warmer, with the corners slightly overlapping the top edge, and large enough to accommodate the bottom of the waterer. WORKS PERFECT, keeping the water thawed!!
