The Thermo-Chicken Heated Pad is perfect for chicks and chickens. The 12.5 X 18.5 size is perfect for most chicks and chickens. Use in the first stages of life for mandatory heat requirements and later when old man winter pays a visit! The internal thermostat is pre-set to the perfect temperature. Ensuring your chicks do not "get chilled" will help prevent "pasting" and support a healthy start. Only 40 watts makes the Thermo-Chicken Heated Pad very energy efficient. It can be placed on the floor or mounted to a wall. Constructed of ABS plastic for durability. For use in an enclosure. This chicken heater has been tested & certified by MET Labs to exceed USA/CA electrical safety standards. One year limited warranty. Q: Does it have a thermostat? Can you use an extension cord with it?
2 years ago- A: Hi Susie, Yes, it has a preset internal thermostat. No, we do not recommend using it with an extension cord.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: does this have a thermostat control
3 years ago- A: Hi! The pad is thermostatically controlled.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: Does this provide enough heat to keep the while 6x6 coop warm during a Michigan winter?
3 years ago- A: Hello, Thank you for your question. K&H outdoor pads are designed to warm to an animal's normal body temperature of when he/she lies on the pad. When an animal is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. The pad is not meant to heat a coop just the animal. It’s tested to below -20.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: I did purchase this product, however I am just curious if I mount it to the wall beneath the roosts will it even make a difference in the temperature of the coop? Or do the girls actually have to be in direct contact with the mat?
3 years ago- A: Thanks for shopping with us! If mounted on the wall it will help heat up the area in the coop, but of course they will be warmer when they are in direct contact with the mat.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: Is it wireless?
4 years ago- A: No, it is not wireless.4 years agoHelpful?
Q: Can this be used in one of your Snap-N-lock plastic coops.
4 years ago- A: Yes it can4 years agoHelpful?
Q: What good is a heater that chickens can sit on, if you need to keep it away from bedding? You say it can catch fire, but a chicken needs to sit on it to get heat or hang it in a spot where there is no bedding material. My chickens sleep on bedding
5 years ago- A: I purchased to use for a hen that lost a leg due to fox attack. I wouldn’t use for healthy flock... as long as they have Adequate shelter and water they’ll be fine no need for the heating pad. What does kill them... is the wind that gets underneath their feathers it’s not so much the temperature drop.5 years agoHelpful?
Q: So basically it does not actually generate enough heat to do anything unless a bird sits on it. I put this product on a stand 21" off the ground to generate heat up into the nesting area floor and downward. No heat sent to the coop. No impressed
6 years ago- A: We're sorry to hear that!6 years agoHelpful?
Q: Where is it recommended to place the pad? Can you set the temperature? What size coop is recommended to heat with one pad?
7 years ago- A: It can either be placed on the ground on drilled into one of the walls of the coop. Simply drill 4 small holes, one in each corner of the Thermo-Chicken Heated Pad, making sure to drill only in the lip of the pad. Then screw the pad to the wall. The pad is thermostatically controlled. K&H outdoor pads are designed to warm to an animal's normal body temperature of when he/she lies on the pad. When an animal is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. The dimensions are 12.5" L x 18.5" W x 0.5" H so the coop needs to be bigger than that.7 years agoHelpful?
Q: Can you place this item on top of wood chip/saw dust bedding or have the same on the top of it?
7 years ago- A: Straw, Sawdust and/or wood shavings are very combustible and we would never advise using them in conjunction with any type of electrical or heated products. Please keep the pad separate from areas that contain combustible materials.7 years agoHelpful?
