Great spreader with an even spread pattern.

This smaller spreader is actually more expensive than the large one, but I'm completely happy with my purchase. I just got done spreading pelleted lime and it worked beautifully, with a smooth, even spread. I chose the smaller spreader for a few reasons. The main benefit for me was the small cone is better for my hilly pasture. With a large cone, when you start spreading on hills, the bottom of the spreader can go dry momentarily unless you keep the cone fairly full. The small spearer holds less, but the material stays at the bottom because there's less width and height for it to move to. The other advantages include a polly cone so this will last a lifetime with no rusting, much lighter than the metal large one, and easier storage. Disadvantages: 1. Obviously less capacity. 2. About 10% more expensive. 3. The small spreader does not allow you to adjust the pattern to spread to only one side like the large one. It spreads an even pattern behind you. None of these were big issues for me, but one or all may make the large one a better choice for some.

Damaged before first use

I ordered this online to be picked up from the store. Unfortunately the local TSC didn't have it in stock so I drove across the state towing a trailer to get the last one in the area. Thankfully I looked at it before I left the store as the plastic hopper had a deep gash in it. Additionally, the paint was missing from a section of the structural metal and it already had deep rust on it. I asked for another one to be ordered and then delivered to my house but they wouldn't waive the delivery fee and said it would be dropped at the roadside, not at the house (I have a 1000 foot long driveway). The photos say it all.

Definitely NOT for spreading seeds!

I bought the CountyLine 500 lb. Capacity Poly Fertilizer Spreader with the intention of using it for pasture work, specifically spreading seed like the listing claims. The website advertises seed capability and the rate chart on the machine even lists different seed types, so I expected it to handle that job. It did not. The auger design absolutely destroys seed. I ran a load of pasture mix through it and it ground it into powder. That was about $200 worth of seed wasted in one pass. It will move material, but not without problems. Pelletized lime went through somewhat okay, but when I tried 10 10 10 fertilizer it crushed a good portion of the granules and constantly clogged. I had to stop multiple times to clear the auger and get it flowing again, which defeats the purpose of running a spreader this size. Build quality and condition were also a letdown. The unit showed up in rough shape right out of the gate, which does not give you much confidence before you even hook it up. Between destroying seed, clogging with fertilizer, and arriving in poor condition, this unit is not usable for what it is advertised to do. I would not recommend it for anyone planning to spread anything other than maybe bulk lime, and even then expect issues.

Mediocre spreader

I bought this as a backup to my larger TS spreader with metal hopper when its gearbox broke. This one has a plastic hopper that’s smaller. I don’t like the basin design at the bottom of the hopper. It traps material in this basin and the agitator crystalizes it or turns it to powder. Likewise, adjusting the throw rate is rather wonky and inconsistent. Overall, it has a toy-ish feel rather than a stoutness I expect in farm gear. Again, it’s OK, but I’d look at something else if your looking for a good experience.

Only 3 stars because I haven't tried it yet. Also because the top link holes are cat 2. And it's a cat 1 unit...go figure. That should be fixed, kinda stupid if you ask me.
