VERY HARD TO INSTALL AND NO INSTRUCTIONS

I had to replace a hub on my 1987 boat trailer and bought a Carry-On hub from TSC and a pair of bearing protectors. So I had one original hub and a new Carry-On hub. I could not get the protector in my original hub so I figured the hub was probably just too tight, maybe on the tight end of the specifications. I went to the side with the new hub, no luck there. Then I got the file out and put a 0.090 inch , ten degree chamfer on it. Using a 20 ounce hammer (and 2X4) it still wouldn't go. So, I upgraded to a 3 pound hammer and finally got it on. There were no instructions in my package and none on the TSC site. I wish I had read the reviews, the freezing idea was a good one as well as using a BIG hammer. I know about freezing just didn't think about it. On a hot day freezing the Protector will reduce the diameter about 0.001" which is a lot on a 2" diameter. On a cold day putting a heat gun on the hub and getting it up to a hot-to-touch temp (140 F.) would give you another 1/2 thousand inch.

Yes, I recommend this product.

a little difficult to install

the instructions say to use a rubber mallet. that's a joke. my first attempt to install these was a failure- there was no way they would go in even using a big hammer with a piece of 2x4 in between. after thinking about it, I put a little grease on the protector's bevel edge and stuck them in the deep freeze for a couple hours. that did the trick! taking the temp down to zero must have shrunk it down just enough to go in.

Yes, I recommend this product.
